The comforts of a slow vacation awaits.... It truly was a wonderful experience. We arrived with the best of directions to be greeted by a note from the Host, Richard. We entered our casita to a bottle of wine and some delicious snacks. Richard arrived a short time after to review the property and answer our questions. The cold bubbling brook was wonderful to soak your feet in on the bridge by the meditation room. The sounds of the girls cackling about made for a great relaxing afternoon in the breeze blowing and sun shining. We love the details in the casita. The coffee Richard left for us and half and half for my coffee was a wonderful touch. We had fresh eggs from the "girls". The bed was comfortable with the linen sheets and with the windows open we felt the cool air at night. Can't forget to mention the casita is decorated with wonderful southwestern charm and comfort. Even though we enjoy coming to Taos often, we have never ventured far from town and this was our first time a little away from it. We totally enjoyed it so much that we didn't go to town for dinner. We stayed in and enjoyed the surroundings, took in a walk around the neighborhood to see the "adobe melt into the earth". It was a wonderful couple of days I would say, not long enough. Richard made delicious baked goods that we savored and didn't want to share....they were soooo good! We enjoyed feeding the "girls" that we made sure we had leftovers for them we enjoyed their company so much. I without hesitation recommend Casa Gallina for couples, families, singles and everyone...
Read moreCASA GALLINA is a rare spot and it takes it place with the best of hospitality around the world, those special 'off the radar' places run with care and passion, beautiful attention to detail, and a deep understanding of g of how to welcome strangers and make them feel immediately at home. I say 'at home' but when I am away, I am not actually looking for home (my own, as much as I love it), I seek rather a sense of place, rooted in local culture - be that spirit, people, food, furniture, decor, ambiance - a sense of beauty, and some of the universal commonalities that great inns, hotels, B&Bs tend to share - namely owners who are deeply involved, and who are generous in the way they approach Life. My love and I were fortunate to have heard about CASA GALLINA from several sets of friends whose taste we trust. Richard's creation here is simple, beautiful and exceeds all expectations. It's a measure of how well he has put everything together that he was away, traveling when we stayed and Joshlyn and team led the welcome and hospitality with grace and kindness as if the place was theirs. |The bed was delightful - super comfortable and it was the best rest we had in New Mexico. The kitchen was stocked with essentials and some beautiful local touches - teas, fresh farm eggs, some local chocolate. CASA GALLINA is magical. It will be our first choice when we return to Taos. Thank you, Richard, Joshlyn and team. - Douglas...
Read moreA gem. We expected something nice, but this exceeded expectations. The house (“casita” is an understatement) was beautiful and functional and more than we needed - which lent to a sense of luxury. The grounds offer a variety of carefully-tended spaces to unwind, and we took advantage of several of them. Richard’s many surprising extra touches of hospitality only added to the feeling that we were there to relax and be cared for. The chickens were an extra bonus for us. You become attached pretty quickly, and their thank-you of fresh eggs every day was a real treat. We even cooked several times - which we hadn’t planned to do - and found the kitchen and pantry and refrigerator stocked with everything we needed, and more.||During our stay we met up with two other pairs of friends who were staying in other locations in Taos. Once they got a look at our place, they all wanted to come here to hang out whenever we had a bit of down time. I...
