This place proved to be absolutely amazing. A bit difficult to find down a gravel lane, the Manager, Susie, went out of her way to meet us and show us in despite we were an hour late (due to time zone change that our supposedly high tech car totally missed).|The Casitas were large and comfortable, 2 bedrooms, each with bath and Living/Dining/Kitchen space. For 2 of us it was a huge space and very reasonably priced.|Susie proved an amazing hostess in every way. She would absolutely go out of her way to meet any (reasonable) requests at any (reasonable) time.|They had 'Continental' Breakfast included (currently no Restaurant on site but they are planning to have one in the future). I found the food among the best we had on a month long trip that included full service hotels. Great egg dishes could reheat in microwave either at Reception or our own Casita; cakes and cookies, food bars, fresh fruit bowls. Wow. Worked for me.|The Casita proved comfortable and quiet. They all seem to have a large covered deck facing a pasture; the owner and his wife have animals that you can look at: longhorn cattle, horses, alpaca, goats.|The deck has a nice high end grill (although we did not take advantage of it, Susie has a supplier that can deliver a full chicken or steak dinner, 5 courses). Susie also knows all the local restaurants and gives excellent advice re them.|Torrey is a Gateway city to Capitol Reef National Park and Cougar Ridge was an excellent "home base"|There is a Lodge but it is rented as a whole for 'destination events'. For couples and families, they have 12-14 casitas of various sizes. I understand our 2 bedroom place was one of the smaller ones but totally adequate for up to 4 persons (we were only 2).|In addition there is a pool and spa area that we didn't really have time for but it's there and available...
Read moreCougar Ridge is an experience all to itself. I was recommended to stay here by a friend who stayed 2 years ago. My goal was a dream vacation where my family and I could experience all the Utah national parks. Cougar Ridge is the perfect location for home base to make that all happen. It is about 2.5 hours from Moab (Arches and Canyonlands), 2.5 from Bryce Canyon, and 3.5 from Zion. It is basically inside of Capitol Reef.|This perfect location allowed us to hit all.of those parks. The GM, Jake, and all staff were super friendly and hospitable. Elena and Cameron gave us tips that only locals know. That was to visit Goblin Valley State Park, and the Lower Calf Creek Falls in Boulder. BOTH hikes were amazing and ranked higher on our list of favorite experiences than most of the national park hikes.|My kids loved the animals, especially the baby goats that followed them everywhere and allowed them to pick them up.|The gym on site is MINT. It has everything you need to do crossfit, bodybuilding, or cardio. There is a pool, hot tub, dry sauna, and steam sauna. Outside there is basketball, pickleball, horseshoes, spikeball, and a volleyball court.|Breakfast is delicious and has gluten free options, as well as almond milk and oat milk.|The views and sunsets are amazing. Lodging is top notch and comfortable. The only bummer was the lack of an oven in the villa. However, there was a traeger on the porch. The pavilion has an oven, grill, and traeger. So we could still cook pizzas and sausages. Just a short walk away.|Cougar Ridge is a vacation destination by itself. Even if we went here with no plans to see the parks, we would have had an amazing, relaxing, quiet, and rejuvenating vacation.|Thank you to Jake and family. You have truly created...
