We arrived here ready for a relaxing weekend 1 hour from our home 🏡 because we could not stay more than the weekend, we arrive and immediately notice the unkept long road coming in, make note very difficult for 2 cars 🚙 to pass but as we travel a lot we understand sometimes that leads to beautiful places so we stayed positive. We get checked in and while walking out notice the beautiful pool that was advertised is in no way as the photos portrayed. We asked about the pool 🏊♀️ and of course it’s under remodeling and should be open by May, which was not advertised when we paid the price we paid!! So we ask how to get to cabin only to realize we had to take our brand new beautiful Challenger down this steep driveway that was muddy dirt track and follow around to more dirt!! We find our cabin is at the end of the waterfront that you can not walk around it except walking sideways right beside another cabins walkway to the back of the cabin to even see the lake!! There are so many safety hazards out here being in the construction 🦺 business. UPDATE:: Caution tape has been placed around sewer holes. The photos will show the boards turned up with nails in them open sewer lines with deep holes dug for them and the retaining wall they have built with no railings that kids that I think parents possibly live and work here are running wild and throwing things over the side including the underpinnings of neighboring trailers! And guess what if one of those kids get hurt everyone will say it was a accident. But my husband and I sat out here for a hour at least and not one adult came to check on those kids who had to be under the age of 7. Now the “cabin” The cabin was clean, it had a nice bed very comfortable, no internet in the cabin at all only whatever they run tv 📺 from but you can not access it, only time we got internet was to sit outside which there again no chairs on the “private porch” that was advertised we were getting. You would assume being the lake and advertising private porch it would face the water well absolutely not! It faces the trailer park and again there are no chairs 🪑 as the photos show!! There is no clear parking, everyone just parks wherever and we were told at check in if there was no parking we can come park back on the only asphalt which is at office and make that horrible walk back down the hills! Now the “beach” they advertise is not accessible to older people with walking issues or handicap issues or just out of shape or people who just don’t want to walk that far given they are on vacation!! The grills are just randomly sitting around different cabins it appears and you would just have to go grab one if you had came to grill your dinner! The photos online are nothing that is here now. Maybe at one time this was a nice place but now it looks like workers have there families here and a lot of kids who run around everywhere and around all the cars kicking dirt balls and throwing debri! And of course they give you a parking pass at check in that says they don’t cover your vehicle which most places don’t but most places don’t have tons of kids running around unsupervised either! So for this price you would think a nice accommodation but no this is lower than where we live so why would I ever return! If this place is under construction 🚧 then advertise that, then let the person choose to go and offer discounted rates if the place is not up to standard yet! Also in my opinion there should be clear warning markings so someone pulling in at night does not pull their car 🚙 in one of those sewer holes!
UPDATE:: After hearing a conversation and speaking to someone I think a big family rented a few cabins and has family here for a family gathering!! So maybe not workers? With that they are pretty well dominating this area! We do see some people consistently cleaning up at the beach area and I understand staff can not possibly watch everyone but advertise if your place is not as advertised is my biggest advice. I really wanted to like this as we...
Read moreMy best friend and I decided we wanted to check out somewhere new for a future vacation so we booked a room online for a one night stay. We stayed in number 38 which was a studio. It was very clean and modern as well as nicely decorated. I was pleased with the accommodations. However we were unable to fully enjoy our stay. We drove two hours to get there and stopped to pick up some items before checking in only to have my card declined. When I booked I was under the impression after calling several times with questions that all fees were included in the price of $108 and some change that was quoted to me online. Only to have my card charged $164.81. I immediately called Long Cove Resort and spoke with a man who explained there is an additional resort fee which was never disclosed online nor over the phone. I called several times with questions before booking directly from their website and nobody ever mentioned these additional fees and my confirmation never reflected these fees. I would have never booked had they been disclosed beforehand because I was sticking to a budget. I explained to him that I was not expecting to be charged that much and never authorized that much to be taken off my card. He didn’t seem like he was very concerned with my issue and we were on the phone for a good 15 minutes before he ever offered any solution, he then offered me a 15% discount (which still didn’t compensate for a nearly $55 difference). We had already driven two hours or I would have just had the whole thing refunded and returned home but I wanted to make the best of it so I agreed to the 15% discount and went to check in. While on the way there I checked my bank account again to see if it had been refunded only to find I had been CHARGED an additional 15%, it was reversed immediately but that meant I still hadn’t received any discount. When I arrived I showed the man and woman in the office what was showing in my bank account and they debated with me what was plainly in front of them. I did not want to stand and argue anymore at this point so I told them if wasn’t in there when I went to check out I’d be sure to let them know. The next day at checkout I still hadn’t received a refund to my bank account so at checkout I made them aware and they assured me my money would be back in there sometime that day. We dealt with another young lady this time who was much more pleasant in demeanor, she offered us a gift bag and a discount for a future stay which was appreciated and was the most helpful and genuine out of anyone I have had contact with. I wish I had gotten people’s names but at the time did not think to ask because I was so frustrated with all of the mess. We returned home and I still hadn’t saw a refund so I called the office again, this time I was told to wait 24-48 hours, which I have. I have been in touch with several different people from Long Cove Resort, and have not received a consistent answer from any of them in regards to the situation. They have sent me screenshots showing that they supposedly refunded my money on 10/12/19 which was when we checked in, but is not showing in my bank account nor as a pending transaction when I called my bank just a bit ago. But everything else from that day showed immediately. I am trying to be patient and at this point I am not so much concerned with the money being refunded as I am concerned with all the hassle and confusion and time I’ve had to spend on the phone trying to resolve this matter, and lack of concern or general knowledge from the employees of Long Cove Resort. Not only do I feel deceived I feel hassled and disappointed because in reality I would have loved to return for a longer stay but not after all of the problems I have encountered. I am not leaving this review to ward off any future guests, just want others to be aware of my experience so maybe it won’t happen to them. I will take my money and my vacations somewhere else...
Read morewe stayed July 1- July 4. Very misleading that this is advertised as a resort and marina. The road leading to the "cabins" is horrible, trucks with boats etc, it will take you more than a few minutes to travel to and from. Another thing, for those especially with watercraft (boats, jet skis, etc) Long cove's definition of the marina is just having boat slips that you will have to pay daily for even if you are staying in their "cabins" tiny houses. There is no boat launch at this facility, you will need to drive several minutes down the road to public access to drop in. Then we were told to leave our trailer at the public access but we refused and they said to bring it back and park it beside the shed at the facility - how do you have boat slips but not offer accommodations to even store the trailer? Also not a real marina store or fuel station. The docks and many boat slips are in horrible condition. They claim boat rentals but they currently do not offer.
On 1st Day we arrived we had water issues - air in pipes, weak water pressure, ridiculous flux in temperatures, mucky watercolor - so yes these sites used to be for campers, then put all these tiny homes in their places without proper permits and hooks ups and maintenance for sewer, etc., Day 2 air conditioning issues. They do NOT have maintenance personnel, guys helping with maintenance are laborers to work on the dock, not trained or have knowledge of these tiny home maintenance. BUT there were a few individuals who tried their best to help but one person in particular who claimed to be their maintenance man is milking the clock, drinking with customers, and smoking weed.
Needless to say, it was not a pleasant experience 97 outside and 79 inside our tiny house and you can imagine how hot it got in the small loft area where our kids were sleeping. We were offered a window unit that kept tripping the breaker, 2 days later finally offered another window unit because with 1 unit it never cooled with it constantly getting tripped.
The night prior to our last day, we spoke directly with owners, and come to find they are not actual owners just property investment people. The unprofessionalism from Gina, the inability to hold a normal conversation to speak about our concerns, crying, flustered, and completely disconnected. She praised her "maintenance man" that we had all the issues with, she couldn't handle a very calm conversation she had to call her husband to speak with us so she can walk off and call her "maintenance man", completely unprofessional when he showed up with he arms crossed as if he was ready to engage in a heated debate.
We were offered a very SMALL refund in comparison to what we spent for the weekend and still waiting for a response, sent follow emails, texts, and calls.
The tiny houses themselves are very beautiful, the location is beautiful, we did know the pool was not functional (city permit issues apparently), the views, the beach area (never got cleaned the entire time we stayed, such as trash, broken floats etc.) There are no grills at each site as the site advertises - no firewood for the common use firepit. The email attachment confirming your reservation will say NO pets allowed, many people had their pets. We didn't expect our tiny house to get cleaned during our stay but they never offered clean towels, we had to hunt down the cleaning personnel to exchange out.
On our last day we finally spoke to the individual that is the "head of property management", Dan He assured me our refund mentioned above and we are still waiting. It really can be a very awesome place once they address many of the things they try to claim as a resort. We didn't get angry we were disappointed because we spent good money! we have own boat and thankfully for that we enjoyed being on the lake and not relying on just the amenities of the...
