The roads within the park are in need of desperate repair. Just getting to our camp site was a little like off roading. The only respectable area to stay was Chardanay Mesa. The others were run down and really looked like no one had stayed there for decades. Weeds growing where the Rv's park. Unkept landscape and just an overall lack of maintenance.
The area in Chardanay Mesa we stayed in had grassy areas. Well kept trees and overall looked very nice. The bathrooms were quick nasty. Dirty floors, kitchen (cloth)type chairs in the shower area. Security was no where to be found. We had neighbors who allowed under age kids to drive a golf cart around the area recklessly and loudly. I only saw security around the pool area (which is very nice).
They have a crow problem. A very large amount of crows perch in the surrounding trees waiting for you to go into your RV so they can scavenge your trash. Not to mention the quiet serenity of the wilderness is ruined by 24/7 "cawing" of said crows. All day it's pretty much all you hear.
The waterslides aren't working. They no longer have horseback riding. The lake looks like a watering hole in the Serengeti and they charge $250 a day to launch a boat. Personal flotation or row boats are only $20 a day. The road leading up to the lake from camping is so riddled with pot holes that the 1.4 mile drive is quite bumpy and rough.
The cafe and ice cream parlor are only open on the weekends. Thus anyone staying in the summer cannot use them. The mini-golf was in disrepair and the waterfall feature next to it was full of green algae and looks like it hasn't been kept in a long time.
The staff were very nice, but the park in general needs a lot of TLC and doesn't appear to...

Read moreOur stay started off a little rough. First we waited at the gate behind 2 vehicles being checked (about 10 minutes) only to be told to go to the office. When I got there, there were NO signs indicating where to park - same as it was last year when we camped. I had to do a u-turn in the parking lot. In the office, there was only 1 clerk working and about 8 kids working on a major sugar rush - with individual purchases. When I requested that she call someone to check me in, she told me she was working alone - no kidding. She finally did get someone to come out - Kylie, whose name tag said "Front Desk Lead". Kylie was completely unsympathetic to my frustrations, telling me I could always camp somewhere else. She asked if I wanted to speak to a manage. Initially, I said no, but after she continued to be rude and unhelpful, I did ask for the manager. I didn't get his name, but he spoke with an accent and was very pleasant, listening to my concerns, and we had a good conversation. After that, once we got to our space, our stay was WONDERFUL. We do love going to this campground. Unfortunately, the check-in experience is just so frustrating I can't give it a great rating yet. For anyone who actually wants to fix anything, just work on signage. The manager had great ideas - someone just needs to do it. We'll be going back, but I will continue to give this feedback until that is fixed. It doesn't matter all the great events and amenities if there is constant confusion because of the...
