I wanted to give a glowing review to one particular employee: Jameson, the park interpreter. We rented out the pavilion for a family bbq and he came by to speak to all the children (and adults) about local wildlife. He brought items for the kids to touch and hold for example: moose antler, pelt, tortiouse shell and animal skull. He fielded our many questions and paid attention to every kid.
Overall: this is a basic MA campground, good for a beginner camper or kids! Small sites but everything is well maintained and rangers do rounds at night to make sure no ones goin wild! Bathrooms are neat, but auto flush/sinks are loud if you're in the nearest sites. Hiking trails, but the pond is usually closed. It's a 5 minute drive to the large lake dennison and your parking tag works there too - its...
Read moreWe stayed in a yurt this past weekend and loved it. Very cool experience having never stayed in a yurt before, having electricity was nice. Very clean campground and bathrooms.
The campground is very small with sites pretty much on top of each other. We usually tent camp, that would have been uncomfortable with how close the sites seemed. The yurts were very close to one another as well. The other 3 yurts were occupied by a group camping together, they were very nice but just lots going on so close to us that it definitely took away from the relaxing weekend we were hoping for.
Also the water quality was put and not one ranger told us about it 😕Another camper warned us about the water after seeing us swimming and informed us that we could swim at lake Dennison up the street with...
Read moreWe stayed here for three nights. The sites are fairly close together but you dont get that "trailer park" feel at all. We stayed on #72. I picked this spot because it was close to a bathroom but turns out the bathroom near us is totally closed. Maybe it's because this is during the Covid-19 pandemic. It does say that there are limited facilities on the website. There is a larger bathhouse with shower open. The pond is nice. We did some fishing and kayaking and enjoyed it. Wood is available at the ranger station where you check in when there is someone there. Seems like this is a fairly popular destination. We enjoyed our stay but wouldn't spend a whole week here again. There isnt much to do around the area, a couple of pretty waterfall hikes not much along the lines of...
