To start, the restrooms were clean. Very quiet during the week when the ground was almost empty. We had a full hook up with patio spot for our RV. Campsite #74 is far from child friendly, and definitely not worth what the price was. We stayed here only since all other campgrounds were booked full from Sept 19 to Sept 27. We have no children, so the price of the campgrounds for us was a bit much since we used NONE of the child attractions. But, the site was downright dangerous. It had a "patio", I guess. It was a broken, falling apart deck. The main beam on the front edge was split in half, and sagged there, and was not safe to walk on at that end. Loose boards on the front right corner sagged under your footstep. Multiple raised board edges across the surface were a constant tripping hazard. Raised nail and screw heads were a danger to bare feet, and the feet of our dogs. Nails protruding out the bottom of the deck boards that overhung the stringer beams were an impaling hazard, as were the 4 large woods screws that stuck into the gravel area between the bottom of the RV steps and the side of the deck. This patio should be replaced, and it is disappointing we paid extra for this dangerous amenity. To the back of the patio, where our main door was located, there was a large area dug out, so there was an uneven depression in the ground, about 4' in diameter and up to a foot deep, as well as a couple smaller dug out areas behind that along the woods edge, which made for fun walking at night. But at least all the grass area had large river stones all over the place, as if walking on the dilapidated patio or crater ridden ground wasn't ankle twisting enough. Also, the sewer drains is an uncapped pipe, nothing to screw the sewer pipe adapter into, so at least the stink of sewer was ever present. And lastly, the piece or junk fire ring should be an embarrassment for you as a company. It was a piece of a rotted out 55 gallon drum, rusted out, jagged as a serrated knife and sharp as one as well on either side, with a huge caved in side. It was so burned out and thin, pieces of firewood leaning inside it would tip it over during use, and distort the shape. I asked for a new one at the office, but the girl said they had a rash of them being stolen, and didn't think they could replace it, but said she would see what she could do. Considering the campground was almost empty during the week, I'm sure they could have gotten us a better one. We swapped ot out 2 days later with the empty campsite beside us. Very disappointed in the site, won't see our business again I'm...
Read moreI really wanted to love this place. We’re frequent campers and we’ve been to a few Jellystones throughout Michigan & Indiana. This place does not compare to other Jellystones and is really not worth what they’re charging.
The lake is a lot of fun. The floating slide is awesome! All of the kids loved it. The staff were all great, really nice, and engaging to the children. A+ in that department! The scenery around the campground is beautiful! The rolling hills are gorgeous.
The kids loved the playground & amenities. I think they fell short. This campground hands down has the worst layout I think I’ve ever seen in a campground. I guess it’s fine if you’re willing to shell out the $$$ for a golf cart, but after paying $250+ to stay for 3 days and $7.50 per small bundle of wood (don’t even get me started on that- I’ve NEVER seen wood go for that much!!!) I was unwilling to spend any more. The pool is on the other side in the owners backyard. You either have to walk around the lake and up a hill, or you have to exit the campground, park across the street, and walk through the owners yard to get to it. The pool was refreshing but so dirty. Each time before I swam I spent 20 minutes scooping out bugs & debris. There was even a dead mouse in there. I get it, it’s in the country, but with what they’re charging the pool could’ve been maintained a little more. The play area is in front where everyone enters/exits, so that made me nervous. Sites are very close together, which we were expecting so not a deal breaker.
They don’t hand out info about the activities. You can use the app, but when we used it it wasn’t accurate. Some activities weren’t listed, and others were supposed to happen but didn’t (movies, foam fun). A few people I talked to weren’t aware of the app, so I really think a handout would be appreciated by all!
They claim it’s “next to” Hocking hills attractions, but it’s like a 30 minute drive. There’s nothing around the campground, it’s really in the middle of nowhere. Fill up before you come here.
Finally, the dump station. It’s in a bad location right next to a site. The rinse hose was broken in multiple places. We couldn’t properly clean out our tank. When you use it you get soaked. It lacked a hose fitting to screw into the camper, so we put our own on there and left it for the next camper.
Overall this definitely isn’t a bad campground. Without the Jellystone name and price tag attached to it it would be fine. IMO it’s just not worth what...
Read moreI am disappointed with the campground. The website photos are deceiving versus the real property. I went there to enjoy the pool and by reading the other reviews, thought it was supposed to be great! I am not for sure who wrote the other reviews but they are misleading as well! The pool is a good distance from the campsites and up a big hill and it is the Owner's pool behind their house! The pool is very small!!!! It doesn't even have space enough around the pool to sit on a lounge chair if one would be provided...which isn't. The jumping pillow is located in their yard as well near the pool. It was deflated and not blown up. I didn't even see the inflatable slide that is advertised but the weather wasn't very good so they may have not set it up due to that. The first time campers that I spoke to during my first time stay were in shock and felt misled by the website too! The lake was very nice and clear but they didn't have a very big beach to layout on. The paddle boats with the water sprayers that are featured on the website are no where to be found, just regular paddle boats. All of the riding bikes, paddle boats, and canoes cost money, not free like a Jelleystone park (like they try to sound like on their website). The arcade was not impressive! It is a wood shed with an air hockey table and one video game inside it. The camp store is bigger but not too many items and they sell Kraft Amercan Cheese for $5.25...ouch! The bathrooms looked fine to me but I heard the mens was not desirable. I use our own shower so that is not a big deal to me. We rented a premium campsite which is way too expensive for what it was. I didn't even get the gas grill that my premium site was supposed to have. I didn't bother to complain about it because there is a big sign on the window of the camp store that is in (bold and in all caps) stating there will be NO REFUNDS! This is not word for word but it states for you not to bother asking for one and put everybody in an awkward position. I thought that is rude and if you have to have a sign up like that, it only means they have several unsatisfied customers!!!!! The campsites are very close together and they are putting in cable or electric lines and most of the sites were dug up and not covered over which made my premium site even more undesirable. If you are used to going to KOA's and Jelleystone Parks this is NOT the...
