Western Motel, Thomasville — Hotel in Thomasville

Front desk staff was marginally courteous but very obviously untrained and had to call the hotel manager(?) for assistance for check in. We were assigned a 2nd floor room. As we navigated the ground breezeway, a broken refrigerator and NUMEROUS German cockroaches littered the walk thru. German cockroaches and broken down appliances greeted us as we came to the 2nd floor landing. We entered our room, and noticed (upon closing it) that the steel door didn't close flush at the bottom. It appeared to have been kicked in. A 2' x 4' area of ceiling over the bed was stained and mildewed. The toilet tissue holder and towel racks were rusty and corroded, as was the shower head and tub faucet. The over mirror lighting had a burnt out bulb. One of the bedside lamps did not work. Neither the DirecTV nor Fire stick remotes worked for TV viewing; the TV had to plugged into the outlet to turn on and unplugged to shut off. The room had overwhelming odor of mildew and Raid roach spray. We reserved this room for 2 nights; we checked out a day early. We were advised the room was non refundable. After a few moments of discussion, the manager(?) was again called for assistance with checkout. At this time we were advised we could be refunded 50% of the room rate. We reluctantly accepted, and it was ONLY AFTER the cash was in our hand that we were asked how...

I was a little leary because of the previous reviews from years ago, but I saw one recent post and I didn't need anything more than a hot shower and a clean comfortable bed, so I stopped by.

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND OWNERSHIP AND IT SHOWS!!

The co owner was the one who checked me in around 4 pm. I was a solo traveler and he handed me two keys. I said I just needed one. He said please go look at these 2 rooms and let me know which you prefer. (Never had that happen before!)

Both rooms were recently renovated. They smelled great. Non-smoking 🚭. Clean linens and towels.

This motel is so close to everything. Minutes from my satellite office in Thomasville, close to all rhe wonderful restaurants in Thomasville and a red light away from Walmart.

The customer service was great. Room was clean and quiet my entire stay. Bed was good and fresh. Shower was awesome with strong water pressure. I will definitely stay here next time I am in town. I also noticed one of the contractors had their fur baby, so they must allow them. 🥰🥰🥰

My friend was staying there with their dad and picked us up to hang out and swim in the pool for a bit, for maybe thirty minutes, we weren't staying the night. We were just hanging out because it was my friends birthday. The manager came outside and kicked us out or the pool, saying that only my friend and their dad was around in the pool and even then, they had to pay extra, we also we're told that we would have to ask for permission before getting into the public pool. There were only three extra people in the pool, and it was empty. We weren't causing a ruckus or making a mess, we were just hanging out. Later that day, their dad took us home and as we were pulling out we saw staff member at the pool area and the guy who kicked us out, going to said are. I don't see the issue of us swimming for a bit, and I certainly don't see why we would have to pay extra for the pool when you're already paying for the room. I would understand maybe if we had 6+ people but there were only...
