For a primitive campground, it's top notch! Definitely designed for tents or small rvs. The big busses or truck trailer units are going to struggle getting down the tight 1 lane gravel drive. Several sites are up where you can park your vehicle with you, and a half a dozen walk up sites, 100 yards or less from parking. All sites have a fire pit, and the one we had even had a built in grill! No fire wood for sale from the highway in so buy before or haul it in. Great spot for a base camp to hike, kayak or raft! There is a road and train tracks across the river, but weren't obtrusive to me. The train coming in at 4 am did make my Midwest mind go oh sh!t tornado.. wait.. train.. haha!! Signs up said starting 2023 reservations are to be done on line.

Beautiful location, my only reason for docking a star was because I had an allergic reaction to something there so I was unable to fully enjoy it. The men maintaining the area were super sweet and helped keep my tent in its site even though I ended up in the hospital. I must say this site is beautiful and so well cared for. Restrooms, fire pits, parking areas, and even the grills seem well kept. Each location is numbered, and cell service is next to non existent which helped to make the experience better. Other campers were polite and plenty of room for 6 person tent, but I would not go larger as you may not have the space. Overall, I would gladly camp here again if it didn't almost kill me. My loss others gain. Enjoy!

This is a primitive campground (no electricity)but it has table and fire pit. All the camp sites are first come, first chance and free. The walk in campsites are just beside the new river and amidst the woods. You can easily access the river for rafting, swimming or fishing. In the early morning, on the opposite bank of the river, we spotted two deer from our campsite.Only the toilet is not clean and creates bad smell. Otherwise,it’s a perfect place far from the madding crowd.

It's okay. There was trash left all over the walk in campsites. My party picked up 2 large trash bags full of garbage. Pack it out, people!!! Restrooms are vault toilets with no running water and no soap. The women's bathroom did not lock shut either. No water at this campsite, no bear lockers. This is a bare bones simple campground. Bring your own water. It is free to stay here. The walk in campsites are better than the drive in ones as the drive in ones have a limited view, but walk in ones are along the river. There were 5-7 campsites in the walk in and about 10 sites in the drive in. It is first come first serve right now. There are train tracks nearby so the trains can be REALLY loud and wake you up. Not a good place to "disconnect" as you can see cars passing by on the other side of the river. Insects and frogs are loud but drown out people noises. There are lighting bugs right now. There was a lightning storm when we stayed. The sky had a lot of stars but clouds covered it most of the time. Overall if you need a place to stay, come here but bring your own water and expect to be woken up by a...

My favorite camp ground. Except bring a flashlight at night cause public bathrooms do not have inside lights. Fishing sucks but for camping, swimming ,walking along sandbar, or just watching rafters come down river it's great. They need to cut some trees out of campground cause durning a storm we lost a brand new $152.00 Walmart tent a big limb blew down on top of us in the middle of the night ripping it all to pieces had to sleep in car yes we checked above in the tree the best we could before placing tent but trees in camping area are so tall and thick plus needs more than 10 Pull in sites. NEXT STAY On April 21 23we camped out at the walk in and the toilets stink so bad you will seriously need some kinda cloth over your face this smell could be hazardous to your health. The men who take care of them has not done anything except take a water hose and sprayed into toilet...

My family has been coming to this camp now for almost 20 years. When we first started coming you could camp right down on the beach with your tent and car almost right next to it. While you can no longer do that (which is a bummer) they have improved the campground greatly. It went from just having port-o-potty to having the best bathroom around that does not have running water. it is the cleanest and best smelling bathroom facility I have ever used in a campground. Yes, it does not have running water, so you need to bring your own for eating, cleaning, and bathing. The views are fantastic, the memories even better, and time spent in the wonderful state or WV are fantastic. Stay away if you like creature comforts. Welcome it with open arms if you like to rough it a little, love the outdoors, and are looking for a place to call home...
