This is my first time staying at this location. I stay in the area every year for work (big event in the area) and I was excited to get in to this location (next door to the event) . July is very busy for them! I got there in the middle of the week, which was exceptionally nice since, while not empty, it was not packed like it would be on the weekend. |The spaces are small, and stacked. This place has been there for a long time, and was laid out before the creation of massive rigs with opposing slides. If you have a small to mid size travel trailer or motorhome, you are going to be just fine. However, if you have the mega rig, call them first. They have a beautiful area for weddings, access to the river, a cute little store with all things you could need including ice and propane, and some other things you didn't know you needed :) |I wasn't at the camp very often, and there were things going on that I did not experience personally, but did note they were going on. They had movie night in the Gathering Place, and coffee and pastries on Saturday and Sunday mornings. They have a wonderful playground area, not just some back yard cast off thrown on some sand, it is nice. They have a community firepit, standing chess board and Connect Four . Near the play area and picnic shed (offering much needed shade) there is an outdoor kitchen complete with fridge/freezer microwave , stove and sink. I thought, brilliant! Especially for those that are tent camping, or if you have a group and are using the picnic shelter. Just a very cool extra touch. I was there with my travel trailer so I cannot speak to the cabins, but they all had cute names, outdoor chairs, and firepit. |Check in was simple, and quite honestly, delightful. The woman checking me in was upbeat (she had AC), informative, and delightful. The place is well cared for, but as it is older it has some quirks. |RV sites have power and water, there is no dump station, and the water stands and power poles are not always together. In my site, the water was up this hill next to one of the cabins. They did provide a hose, but to turn it on, I would either have had to scramble up this soft sided hill, not going to happen, or walk down to the driveway, then to the water, walk that length again. And unless you have someone with you to monitor for you, nothing about this seemed workable to me. i had enough water in my tanks so i was fine. It was just a quirk. A couple of the other sites, had power on one side, water on the other. Again, quirks, nothing dramatic. |They have a bath house, and the shower is separate from the bathroom (this is wonderful as far as i am concerned), and the shower is free. In addition they have several port a potties around the property . All in all, it is a great place, and...
Read moreWe stayed there this weekend with a group of friends. This campground is worth visiting if only to meet the owners, Tim and Julie. They were fabulous! Tim was very helpful getting parked at my site. I'm a rank beginner when it comes to trailer parking, and I'd consider all the sites here to be advanced. Tim directed me with such finesse I was parked before I could get stressed. The kids had a great time zipping around on the golf cart for hours each evening with Tim driving like a loony at the wheel. He also gave them rides on his 1958 tractor. There's movies in the barn in the evenings, and "fireflies" in the trees. The campground is right on the river and we spent many hours out there relaxing with our feet soaking in the water. They playground and games were nice, and there was a complete outdoor kitchen set up as well. A few friends stayed in the cabins, all of which have a background story and are nicely appointed and quite cute. I am not giving 5 stars due to the 2 following things: There is only 1 bathhouse with 2 toilets and 2 showers. With over 100 people camping there over the weekend, there was usually a line for both throughout the day. They have a strange policy of charging PER tent, even if you've already paid for an RV site. I'm sure the policy was designed to limit the number of campers at a site, but I would much prefer a policy that actually does that. Limit the site to 6 people, or charge extra after 4 people, or charge for extra cars, not per tent. The currently policy rather unfairly discriminates against those of us who own small trailers (or small tents), when many larger RV's easily sleep 8-10 and they would not be charged extra. Luckily my friends paid for the tent this time, but if we go camping without friends, we will need to look elsewhere as I can't afford to pay for a tent and an RV site, and I'm not about to camp without my kids bringing a friend (which still only puts us...
Read moreWe had a family reunion here this year, over Fourth of July! Everything was lovely. It’s a rustic/ historic location family members have been enjoying for many years. We rented the big house, with five queen rooms plus the bunk room upstairs that has its own sitting space for our young adult kids. It was fantastic! I brought games, which we didn’t need because they have a huge bookcase full of games, plus lots of a yard games to play as well. The kitchen had tons of dishes and silverware, a full pantry that we were able to fill with food for 25 people for four nights and five days lol. Some family and friends stayed in their own RVs nearby, and then everybody came to the big house for meals and relaxing around the fire, it was honestly awesome. A highlight of mine was relaxing on chairs in the river, which is shallow and cool in the hot sunny weather. It was the kids idea and it was actually super fun, we did that each day. The on sit market had ice and beer and wine and snacks which was key! The main house had two outside decks, so at night when the front deck was super full some of us would go around to the back deck lol. We had choices! There were also like three sitting spaces within the big house in addition to two large dining tables. So that was fantastic. Last, but definitely not least, the folks at the front desk were incredibly helpful if ever we needed a bottle opener or extra Band-Aids or a vacuum cleaner. That was really nice! Obviously, I highly recommend this...
