Tried to reserve a site online, but most were was already reserved. Almost half of the website says first come first serve, and you cannot reserve those online. Decided to take a drive in person two weeks ahead of our camp date to see if I could pay and reserve.
Was told by the new camp host, it was truly first come, first serve and to be there by Wednesday as sites fill up quickly. Followed instructions the Wednesday before the weekend we wanted, and every site was "reserved" with no campers in sight.
Clarified the first come, first policy. He confirmed, but all sites were "reserved" for the weekend, even though no one was there. He was asked to repeat what he just said, and again, he contradicted himself. He said we could stay there for one night, but Thursday night everything was booked.
In addition to a contradictory policy and website, the site numbers no longer match the camp sites. So if you're familiar with this campground, you may not be getting the site you paid for.
This would be a One Star review, but my family has camped here for over 20 years. It's a beautiful camp ground, excellent for kids and hopefully next year will be sorted out. It's unprofessional and extremely frustrating hauling kids, taking time off work and hauling a trailer an hour to be turned away by contradictory policies from...
Read moreLove the outside, the lake an the trees to run along were amazing. but each campground was to close together like less then 10 steps away from eachother. The bathrooms (pretty clean portapotties but some smelled awful even from afar) didn't have sinks and no shower in sight. Water was nearby and when we frist saw it, took my breath away. Quiet by 10pm is understandable but the freeway was so loud in the silence that It startled some awake. So that makes it a bit confusing. An weird popping sounds at night. The land just carried my rating everything else was ok or questionable. Park ranger was sighted but we didn't really speak to them besides asking a question. Seemed like a soild...
Read moreCamp sites are nice and spacious under the large trees with a good distance between each site so you don't feel crowded. Water access is not so good since there's not really a beach but a muddy shoreline, but be sure to check it out at dusk to watch the bats eat insects. You can walk over to the resort next door which does have good water access - or bring a boat of some type. Bring bikes to check out the trails and ride around the campground. No showers or bathrooms, just pit toilets and water spigots. Camp host was very nice. Watch for fire bans come August - bring a gas grill or stove. All in all a...
