I had a great experience at Beaver Valley Campgrounds this weekend as part of a bike-touring trip from New Jersey. I stayed 2 nights. Jennifer went out of her way to accommodate some special needs I had and I am so appreciative.
I found the grounds clean and attractive and my campsite pristine - level gravel surface, water spigot, fire ring, and electric panel. I couldn't have asked for anything more. The bathroom and shower stalls were clean and well set-up, with ample hot water.
The campground was full of people with tents and campers, fire-pits ablaze all around. Of course there was the noise one would expect coming from people enjoying themselves on a weekend getaway during the day, but when night-time came silence prevailed throughout.
Wow. Any camper knows how golden silence is in a campground at night and how hit-and-miss it can be. I've been to campsites where people thought nothing of playing loud music till 1:00 in the morning and beyond. All it takes is one group of campers.
I attribute the considerate behavior not only to the campers, but to the owners of Beaver Valley as well. When you sign in you're given a printed sheet listing campground policies. Quiet time is highlighted and notice is given that anyone who creates a disturbance or breaks the rules may be evicted.
My trip took place in early fall, so I didn't get to experience the pool.
I would most definitely recommend Beaver Valley Campground.
Note to cyclists. Beaver Valley is at top of a plateau. You'll have to climb hills to get to it, but it's worth the effort. My advice, if you're coming from the Delaware River valley, don't come via Uhlerstown Hill Road. One section of the road has a 15.6% grade! I've ridden up hills that I've had to zig-zag up, but there was no riding up this one. I had to get off and push my bike (weighing 71 lbs. loaded with camping gear) one grueling step at a time. Geigel Hill Road from River Road would have been a...
Read moreMy wife and I wanted to attend the Strawberry Festival at Peddler's Village and thought it would be fun to camp out the night before. We found Beaver Valley Campgrounds and it could not have worked out any better. Check in was easy with the friendly and not overbaring staff. Because it was a slightly off season weekend there were several sites from which to choose. They reviewed the open camp sites with us on the map and they encouraged us to drive around, pick one and let them know.
The sites all have a fire pit, picnic table, water and electric. I took some time to walk around and all of the sites appear to be clean, well maintained and in fine working order. The bathrooms and showers were immaculate - possibly cleaner than my bathroom at home. All campers respected the lights out and quiet hours which made for a very pleasant camp.
Beaver Valley Campgrounds offers large pavilions, playgrounds, a swimming pool, volleyball net, basketball court and many other amenities which due to time constraints, we were unable to take advantage.
If you go, know that this campsite is pleasantly secluded, and quiet. The entrance sign on the road only faces one way. My GPS told me to look on the right side of the road and it was actually on the left with the sign facing away from me. Once I passed the Beaver Valley Campgrounds and made a u-turn, I could see the sign and all was...
Read moreWe have a big ugly converted 40ft long skoolie. Lots of campgrounds don’t even let us in because they only want new RVs for appearances. The folks at Beaver Valley welcomed us and were absolutely accommodating. The campground is beautifully kept and sits on a hill that slopes down to beaver creek. The woods are old growth and pristine for hiking. Be prepared the hills were intense and made me feel fat and out of shape. They have clean and well maintained bathrooms and a dump station on site. All sites have water, electricity and WiFi. Some have cable. We would rate this place 10/10 if we could. It’s a family run place so no parties or rowdy behavior is allowed which made it a nice relaxing weekend for everyone. We had a couple beers, made a fire, cooked dinner and just let the fresh air and quiet soak in. Thank You...
