The park is really pretty and I stay at state parks for safety so I don’t mind being asked for my permit but I was asked the first time for my permit and then camping details. Which I screen shot on my phone. The last ranger told me I need to write down the confirmation number. Okay cool I don’t need to be really told that as an almost 40 year woman and then it was how it was done. Again, I don’t mind giving my permit and details, but asking me that right as I was filling a container in a water and then it almost felt accusatory as if the ranger thought I was lying and THEN made way to big of a deal my my permit being on the wrong side. I don’t really see why it would matter which side. Anyway, they did miss the car full of kids who actually didn’t pay and then some people when I was using the shower I paid for. I’m not even staying another night because I felt harassed and it ruined my camping trip. You want to know how often I’m able to camp on a beach? Never. You made my trip horrible. It was accusatory like I was a child in trouble. MN doesn’t want my money. The extra $7 fee online is a gimmick anyway. I’m booking my own reservation. Anyway, I went to Michigan instead. Thanks a lot! Oh and just to let anyone else know who is a solo female traveler, the rangers walk around in regular clothes here all the time. One morning I was going to the bathroom and say them. Idk maybe that’s just a thing but after all the permit verification and camping details I felt uncomfortable like I was being followed. Thanks...
Read moreI have visited many of the state parks and falls along the Lake Superior Lakeshore during my recent vacation. For some reason, my daughter and I liked this park and the falls most. Maybe it's because we took some extra unnecessary steps to raise our adrenaline level🤭. When you drive to south on Route 61. Right after you pass the Temperance Park enterence, you will see the parking lot on both sides of the road. Take the parking lot on the left side. You will only be a city block away from an amazing scenery. It only takes less than a minute walk! If you follow up the trails, you will get to experience better views. But I must say that the path involves uneven steps of rock as you go higher. I hiked in the evening time, so I was attacked by insects even tho I used %100 deet insect repellent. But mine may have been worn off since I applied it around noon and hiked all day. I captured one of the best photos at this park . As a photographer, I am very happy with all the breathtaking views and the...
Read moreNormally a favorite when in the area. They have a great work around for being short staffed..that's not the issue...our food was totally over cooked. The walleye which is a favorite there...was over cooked to the point you couldnt cut the crust...husbands fish and chips were the same. Drinks came half way through our meal...after appetizer and mid main course. There isn't any one to flag down if you need something it's pretty much self serve...go hunt for a fork since the table basket hadn't been replenished. Its ashame places cant find help...we have been traveling since mid May and have seen this problem across the country...everyone has help wanted signs out and please excuse our slow and non existant service. Normally this restaurant is 5 star...but the quality of our food ..main course (appetizer was great)...
