Tompkinsville Inn — Hotel in Tompkinsville

I pull in this place expecting to pay $45 maybe $50 tops.

$80 was the rate. It's the only motel for miles so I guess that's how they get away with it. Pretty steep price, but the clerk assured me they serve a hot breakfast, plus I wasn't wanting to drive to some other motel 30 miles away.

I asked for a smoking room. Desk clerk said sure no problem.

I picked up a newspaper, and he said that will be 50 cents. I said you've GOT to be kidding, you're charging double what this room would cost if there were any other motels around, and I can't even have a newspaper?

Then the clerk "just realized" there were no more smoking rooms available. There was one car in the parking lot, it was 6:00PM, but all smoking rooms were full. Go figure.

So I go to my room. The mini fridge was sitting on the floor. Not wanting to get on my hands and knees to access it, I grabbed my cooler and went back to lobby for some ice. The clerk said no coolers allowed for ice. I said all I needed was enough to make a cold Mountain Dew. The clerk said I would have to buy my ice across the street. I said I need a refund for this place. Denied. I said I needed to speak with the manager or owner. Denied.

I went and bought my own ice and bought my own paper and retired to room for the night.

When I got up I thought boy my back is sore. Looking at how the bed sagged a good 8 inches in middle I can see why.

I then proceed to take a shower. No water would come out the shower head. Ended standing in tub doing like a sponge shower.

Lastly, I proceed back to lobby for my hot breakfast. I guess my view of a hot breakfast is not same as the motel's, as the only thing that was "hot" was the toast and coffee.

We didn't stay at the hotel this year but two of my children did. However, I have stayed here for the past 26 years so I know what it's like. No problems at all with the staff or service. They are always very friendly, even with management and staff changing over the years. I do think that the price of the room is high for what you get but it is the only option in Tompkinsville... I even checked Airbnb and couldn't find any other options. It was $80 this year but we have paid up to $100 in years past. We decided this year it wasn't worth the cost for us.

They have made updates over the years to improve the place, but it is still an older motel. The beds have always been clean and comfy, but the floors not so much. The carpet was old and dirty and would turn your feet black. I thought it would solve the problem once they updated to tile floors but it didn't. They don't seemed to be mopped regularly and still turn your feet black. They also still allow smoking in some of the rooms. We have unfortunately had to stay in one of those rooms when the inn was full and the smell was awful. We bought an air freshener and it really didn't help much.

Overall, it's okay if you have to stay here. Friendly staff and they put out special treats in the evening. Just be aware that the floors are not always clean and some things may be dated, including the...

My wife and I just got here in time before the front desk closes and grab a room. Nothing special and a little high for the price but its the only thing in Tompkinsville that is decent. I gave it 3 stars because it's fairly clean, queen beds are not queen!!!!! More like a full especially when see them. I have a queen bed at home...it's a friend of mine....and Mr bed you are not a queen bed...throwback.....who said something like that in a vice president debate? Ok back to the rooms. So we got a non smoking and as we pulled up after getting our key..2 chsirs outside by the air conditioner with two ash trays on a table....hmmmm.......that is not very smart of management. I moved it away before taking the pic...but take my word for it if u want. The apparently do not clean up flies neither...notice the last pic. Update....I took a shower, its late...my wife and I was going to sleep in one queen bed...but ad I said they are full size plus broken down...and we are fighting flies to try to rest to go to sleep. Downgraded from 3 to 1 star. Over priced and not worth it at all. Need...
