Beautiful, very reasonably priced, super friendly staff. They have gate passes for after hours, laundry room, showers, on the lake, amazing trails. I can't understand how anyone could leave a bad review. It's well maintained and one of the more beautiful spots I've stayed. I live in my RV and travel nationwide for work, so I have some room to judge. I also have a service dog, so I have to add my two cents about that. I do not have him in a vest, not necessary as stated by another commenter. However, they allow dogs and ask for no fee, so I didn't even make them aware of his status. They certainty didn't insist for any reason he have a vest. I haven't seen a single dog off leash since I've been here. Even if it's not rules, it's common sense and common courtesy. I have walked my 80lb German Shepherd up to the office to ask question, and taken him on several walks daily. Not once has anyone had a comment, other than he is beautiful. There are a lot of dogs here, all on a leash, all well behaved. If a dog were off leash for reasons relating to a disability, the vest would be helpful so others know. Obviously not required by law, but the decent and courteous way to behave. I am a huge dog lover, so I hope others won't be put off by previous comments. My experience was fantastic and...

It would not be that bad if they would not discriminate against service dogs. They told us we have to keep her service vest on her but federal government says that a service dogs do not have to wear them and then told us she had to be on a leash at all time but if you come out here and see for yourself people let there dogs run free with out a leash I called the campground main boss and they wanted to argue with me about it so I just hung up then the people that so call run this place told me if I called her boss they would kick us out and keep our money. That is what they think. You can not treat disabled people like this and get away with it. We have called the disability rights group we know what are rights are so let them try and see how far they get with it. You in the rules it says you have to park your trailer in a over flow parking spot but I guess the rules are for the people they...

Booked this campground in advance and over the phone. We were driving across the country and were not familiar with the area. The staff encouraged us it was a great site with lots of shade. When we arrived the campground seemed nice, however driving to our tent site we were disappointed. There is barely any room in between you and the other campers. This is not something we were expecting, especially during a pandemic, and would have assumed the campground would have done better at following procedures. Also, the site we had was not shaded at all. We called about moving to a different site, but the once friendly staff turned rude and offered no solution. We ultimately decided to leave and even confronted the staff face to face. But even then they were not helpful and seemed to not care about us as guests. Will not be back and will not recommend it to...

Campground is located on Lake Shawnee in a beautiful park with plenty of activities. Bathhouses are ok, deficient on privacy for showers. The sites in the old section are parking-lot style on gravel with electric (50 amp, bring your adapter if you use 30 amp service.) There are some trees. In the newer sections, the pads are concrete & have full hookups, but seem less level, have no trees except between the sites & the lake, and the sewage connection is about 8 inches above ground level. Checkin was easy and efficient with a thorough briefing.

This campground is a childhood favorite and has continued improving over many years. I do wish they had more site sewage but not a big deal. The staff is great and even brought our passes to us at our site…caught a Blue Gill off the dock with a nice fat worm! Since then another Blue Gill and a Small Mouth Bass have been shared with me by the Lake. I returned all of them to the Lake. Fifty years of memories at this jewel of Topeka, Kansas. Learned to water ski here, did Winter camping even in a foot of snow, and many other great times!
