Fish Creek Cabin Resort — Hotel in Town of Annsville

Interesting that the good reviews here are all from numerous months ago. I guess since they began selling packages on Groupon, they no longer care to allow anybody to actually book a cabin there once they've pocketed the money.

I purchased 2 Groupons recently, each for a 2-night stay. My husband and I were going to stay for an extended weekend in May, which, according to their online calendar, was available. I tried to call them numerous times only to be immediately sent to their automated voicemail system which states that the "best way" to reach them is via email. Another voice follows this message stating that the mailbox is currently full and cannot receive new messages. Good to know that they're keeping on top of their messages so well...

I then proceeded to email them multiple times and I have yet to hear back from them. I was very clear in all my emails, stating the exact dates I wanted to stay, my Groupon voucher numbers, the number of guests and the full names of the guests.

They are a year round resort, so there is absolutely no reason why there shouldn't be somebody around to answer phones and reply to emails.

I can only conclude that the owners either a) are shady, taking money from Groupon sales without actually fulfilling their end of the deal or b) have since abandoned the property without a word.

It really is such a shame because it looks like a gorgeous property and my husband and I would have loved to check it out. We love to travel and would have likely been repeat customers. Shame on them for such poor, shady...

I see some bad reviews one saying recent reviews are not available, well I went just this past weekend and had a great time! This was my third year in a row and have enjoyed it more each and every time! The cabins are all clean and cozy, they have all you could want. The campground itself is also clean. Our Kayak trip was awesome and the owners are VERY pleasant. I recommend this place to all.

OK, that being said you CAN have a few issues but all minor. The owner is a busy guy and emails are often not responded to immediately, the website is not updated every day, when you check in they are likely not there (just go to your cabin and see them on Saturday ...no big deal). They have some invasive bamboo that needs to be cut back but you know how fast bamboo grows so this is difficult to stay on top of! and lastly, the resort itself doesn't have an awful lot to do, you make your good times! Get to meet the other renters and you will be shocked how friendly everyone is! So what if you need to drive to a beautiful nearby park?

I would especially recommend two things: Go with a group of friends or family! It helps you "make" that fun so much easier. either group or not, DO check out the creek behind Kamp Kayak, you can bring a lawn chair down there and sit on the slate creek bed with your feet in the water. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in ansville. The rushing river and cricket sounds at night were a huge plus. We could open the bedroom sliding door and sit on the porch overlooking the river. The cabin was clean and had just about everything we needed to cook meals and relax for our stay. We purchased a Groupon and paid less than it would cost to stay in a Motel 6 for a cute cabin on the water. Whats not to love about that! With that being said, be prepared to sort of see your time here as "self serve" the owners are not often on site, but we did run into someone who helps out around the place the second day we were there. The owner did respond promptly to all my emails, but the phone number on the website is not a quick way to get in touch with them. Note that you can get to the Adirondaks from the resort with about an hour drive but you are more just in a small neighborhood setting along a peaceful river. I thought the grounds could use a little work but we were here for the off season so no biggie. Our bed was comfortable, but we have friends who stayed and theirs was not, so bring a memory foam pad or something along. For the price that we paid it was AMAZING! It was peaceful, clean, and comfortable and it put us just over an hour away...
