We booked a full hook-up site for 2 nights (concert weekend). We called to confirm that you could actually show up "after sunrise" to check-in and were told basically, yes...? We rolled in around 7:30am and no one really knew what was going on, why we were there, etc. But a few minutes later, Earl showed us where we could park and we were all good.
The RV spots are not very level (we all seemed to have issues parking and setting up) and very close to each other. Luckily, the few campers there were spaced pretty far apart and we ended up with an amazing view of the mountains. There are a lot of full hook-up RV spots and I would imagine when they are mostly booked, it's a very tight squeeze with very close neighbors.
Since no one was there to officially check us in when we arrived, we walked to the tent around noon to show all of our tickets (camping and shuttle for 2 people). They seemed genuinely annoyed by us. At one point, the woman just walked away from me and I had no idea what was going on. Turns out, she just went to go get her phone and we were, in fact, all done. K.
The shuttle to and from the venue was great! We left on time, got dropped off right near the gate, and the bus was waiting for us right after the show was done. Great music, great vibes, and a wonderful driver!
There is no store on site, most dogs are off leash, and people are there to party. These were not downsides for us, just something that is unlike other campgrounds.
I can't wait to go back! Overall, it was a pretty awesome, unique...
Read moreThis is a campground that hosts events concurrent with the bethel woods performing arts center next door. People camp over while they attend concerts at bethel woods and some try taking the very poorly organized and expensive short bus between the venue and the camp.
Cannabis friendly and plenty of vendors for other things if your tastes vary.
This is NOT a kid friendly venue, drugs abound here and are openly consumed. Also lots of off leash dogs.
Biggest complaint is the racism and extreme phobias against anyone LGBTQ+, don't think for a minute this place is any kind of progressive. The "hippies" here are faux.
Extremely aggressive check in staff who refuse to answer any questions or make any accommodation for any issues that arise. Plan on being screamed at.
Bathrooms are continuously clogged, no toilet paper, and no hot water, also pretty expensive place to camp, more so if you book in advance online, but also if you don't and just show up as prices seem to vary weekend to weekend and day to day.
If you like camping in an open field on the side of hill go ahead and book this place. And there's one bathroom for the whole field, but 3 in the vehicle restricted area down by the vendors and stage.
This could be a great venue if there was any kind of accommodation for anyone not cis, white, hetero and abled. The owner seems dead set on not paying any staff, seemingly relying on homeless addicts they let live there (and exploit) for tasks like litter pick up and...
Read moreThe venue itself is absolutely fine, it's cozy, welcoming and mostly wooded. The bathrooms are clean, showers are good and hot, and there are a few electrical plug-ins if you need to charge a device up. Car camping is limited to the wooded edge of the field, as vehicles are prohibited in the main area due to how muddy it gets when it rains there. A great place for any sort of folk/jam-band/Dead-esque styles of music, and patrons of those events. That's all of the upside for the 1-star. If you are a promoter or organizer looking to have an event booking any sort of electronic music, AVOID. GO ELESEWHERE. The property owners/management have on multiple occasions, despite all sound levels and scheduling falling within the limits and permits acquired, shut down sound systems and even entire stages, and have also been observed making attempts at confiscating blutooth speakers playing electronic music after said systems/stages were shut down. Forcing international headliners to cancel, disrespecting and causing disappointment within an entire sub culture of people, because they just don't like that type of music. On their end they shouldn't bother booking electronic music. There are plenty of other locations in the north east much friendlier to the electronic music crowd, it just isn't worth it to book or attend an event here because of the "Woodstock" nostalgia...
