Chelka Lodge — Hotel in Town of Bolton

I have been coming to Lake George with my extended family for my entire life for a week every summer. We stay at 3-4 different places each year, so I have gotten to sample many different places to stay on Lake George, and Chelka is literally always the best.

The place is relatively small (around 15 rooms all together), you can have a more basic Queen or king motel room that has a stunning lake view, extremely comfortable beds (this is big with me) and is plenty big enough. There is a newer tv with plenty of stations as well as AC and a fridge, and is kept up well.

There are also 3 efficiency suits literally right on the lake, with a kitchenette and everything is quite new and lovely.

Finally there is a guest house with an upstairs and downstairs which is perfect if you have more people in your group…..I have stayed in literally every room in the place over the years, and you can’t go wrong with any option.

The prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the Queen/king lake view units, which are usually the way we go…..

Literally nothing beats the swimming area right in front of the property - leave your room, jump right in, beautiful water, perfect sand, it gets no better, especially on a hot day….

They have lots of amenities, canoes, rafts, rowboats, basketball court, ping pong, but again, literally nothing beats the lake access.

Judy and Dave are the owners and have had it for more than 20 years. They know exactly what they are doing and are happy to lend advice for any of the many different options around the Lake, in Bolton Landing, or anywhere else nearby.

They also have their 2 Labradors who roam the property, play in the water and are as sweet as can be. My wife and I are big time dog lovers. I have seen some people complaining about having 2 dogs around. If for some bizarre reason you don’t like dogs…..well then I don’t want to know you…..

Again, I have been coming to Lake George for literally 40 years, trust me, This is the very best...

Let me Begin by saying I'm very very dissatisfied .the pictures they show you of the rooms not even close. To check in we spoke with this young boy who was totally spaced out on some kind of drug very rude next I just want to mention that I was traveling with a friend who found this lodge and from the pictures everything looks amazing. Well when you get out of the car everything looks amazing ,then you go into your room. opening the door was a disgusting start. Bathroom was totally disgustingly filthy I found big chocolate chip cookies on the floor in the closet which I did not put my clothes in I left them in a suitcase there are no spreads on the bed and sheets which I think are supposed to be white a dirty dark dingy gray with stains. Now onto the chairs that you're supposed to sit in thank God I carry sanitizer and wipes with me I wiped down the chair which was totally from the 50s the dirt that came off of it was absolutely disgusting . Upon checkout I had a private talk with the owner and told her that they definitely need a housekeeper that knows how to clean and I would so love to go back but I can't go back under those services. And then I actually felt like I was camping out because they don't have any service that comes into your room to change your towels you put your trash outside the door you put your empty bucket outside the door for your towels it get the clean towel now you got to bring it in if I wanted to do that I could stay home.
