We wanted to be happy and satisfied with our stay but we didn't stay. I'm perplexed at some of the reviews to be honest. I booked a one night stay for September. It was back in May and the property owner couldn't have been nicer. I explained that my husband has health issues and asked about the cancellation policy. He was more than willing to work with us based on what I had disclosed. As we got closer to our arrival, I emailed him as this was our means of communication all along. He confirmed that we were fully paid and that we can come any time after 12:00 noon. He stated that he wouldn't be there but gave me the room number and said that it would be unlocked and the key would be inside. I thought this was a little odd as we have stayed in many hotels/motels over the years and this was new practice for us. We arrived at around 3:30 and the parking lot was empty. We went into our room which immediately smelled like mold. Based on the cracks in the bathroom walls and ceiling - my guess is that there is a problem. Okay - still going to try to make this work. The key was no where to be found. My husband walked to the office only to find a post it note on the door with the names of the other three guests and the room numbers. That was a bit disturbing as well. He listed his number if anything was needed. I called him to ask for the key and he stated that he didn't leave it and that he would be back about 5 - 5:30ish. I told him that we wanted to go out by then and he said that he would leave the key under our mat in front of the door. For some strange reason, I accepted that. When I relayed this to my husband - he wasn't happy but decided to put he air conditioner on to air out the smell a bit. My husband pushed the power button and it didn't go on - checked the plug, spent a few minutes trying to get it working - nothing! He decided to call the owner back and got a voicemail. He immediately returned our call and when my husband told him that the air wasn't working - his response was - "you need to put on your glasses and look in the center at the power button" WHAT? This was already done and it wasn't working. He said it worked all summer. That is when my husband lost it. He listed all of the items that we were not satisfied with and told him that we were leaving. Of course we were told that we won't get a refund. The owner texted me shortly after saying that check-in wasn't until 4:00 and that he had to run to the store and was back now. We left a 4:00 and no one was there - also it was 4:36 when he texted us that he was back. I guess he forgot that he emailed us to say that we can check in anytime after noon. We will 100% dispute this. Again - we have not been away and my husband is ill so nobody wanted this to work more than we did but obviously there was a whole host of reasons why this went South quickly. For those of you who had an excellent experience - I'm truly happy for you! Being on Lake George is magical and making amazing memories with family and friends...
Read moreI can’t say enough great things about The Lodges at Bolton Landing. From the moment we arrived, the owner, Joe, went out of his way to be kind, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. It’s rare to find someone who treats guests with such genuine care, and it made our stay truly memorable.
The property itself is beautiful — cozy, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed. The rooms are recently renovated, spotless, and comfortable, with great Wi-Fi and everything you need to feel at home. The grounds are intimate and peaceful, with a pool, firepits, and plenty of space to relax.
The highlight, of course, is the lakefront. It’s stunning — Northwest Bay is pristine and quiet, and the private dock is the perfect spot to soak in the views. The complimentary kayaks, paddleboards, rowboats, and canoes are such a special touch — most places don’t offer that anymore, and it really sets The Lodges apart.
This is a place where you can tell the owner puts his heart into it, and it shows in every detail. Whether you’re here for a night or a week, it feels like you’ve found a hidden gem in Bolton Landing. We can’t wait...
