We had a wonderful weekend! The snow Wednesday was a beautiful touch for our arrival - the boughs of the trees were nicely laden with a thick layer of white and it made for a picturesque scene out front covering the adirondak chairs. Having wood in the house and so much in the shed was really nice, as it was three below wednesday night and 7 below thursday night. The fireplace insert was great - very good draft and lots of heat, it made the house warm and cozy. We did use the extra heater Friday morning (I was trying to hold off since November didn't seem appropriate for extreme weather) and it warmed the house very quickly. The lake still had open water when we arrived Wednesday afternoon, but by Thursday morning it was frozen over! We were impressed with how well stocked the kitchen was with pots, pans, dishes, appliances, and utensils. We brought extra cooking supplies with us, but didn't need any. Everyone enjoyed the scavenger hunt/quiz, and having a prize at the end was a really nice touch. We braved the cold to use the hot tub a few times, sitting under the stars with snow all around made it like a spa weekend. Everything in and around your home is pleasant and comfortable - we wouldn't change anything. The only complaint I have is that we lost all our games (Minnesota-Duluth dropped both games @ Clarkson and Michigan got blown out by osu).||||Thank you for your hospitality, we hope to make a summer vacation there in the years to come.||||Best Regards,||Brian and...
Read moreI'm going to give this place five stars solely on the fact that I love this and I understand people have bad days. We would always my girlfriend and I made it sort of a ritual after our annual week camping.
On one of the visits the male owner of the property saw my GF with a cigarette in her hand outside..... I totally understand there is no smoking allowed inside..... As soon as he saw that his mood changed simply because we are younger then your average guest...this was back in 2018. I'm now writing a review because I got an email from them asking me to.
I asked the owner for a charger he responded very rudely "we don't carry your phones charger here" I mean cell phone charging wires are pretty basic right you either have an iPhone or an Android now a days.. I found this odd since he's gave me a charger on other occasions when I stayed there.
there was a lot more funny things that happened during that stay. But other then that one single time it's been an amazing vacation spot.
So just a warning don't pull up to the driveway with anything in your mouth such as a cigarette vape etc etc you'll get...
Read moreI made a permanent move from NYC up to Canton for a job with St. Lawrence County, and could not be happier about staying at Donna & John Clark's White Pillars/Craftsman Suites!! They are wonderful people, who have created a wonderful oasis; which can only be described as 'down-to-earth luxury.' I come back from work (a 7 minute commute to Canton), and am greeted by a beautiful front porch; with a view out the back, which can only be described as 'painting-perfect' (a pasture with the greenest grass; with blooming flowers, and a classic red barn!), and with sunsets that are spectacular!! My suite (Executive West in the Craftsman Suites) is craftsman-gorgeous; with a super comfy bed; marble bathroom, and a huge picture window! Thank you, Donna & John for making my move something to look...
