In 2017, my husband and I drove down to South Carolina to see the eclipse. The people, food, and the experience of the eclipse was phenomenal. So, we decided to book our second eclipse experience 6 months in advance at The Roxy in Cape Vincent, New York. Two weeks prior we tried to contact the hotel and at first could not get a hold of anyone. I sent an email, no response. A week later, I tried calling again and got someone who told me to call the next morning. I called and again, no answer. Then, the day before we were to arrive, I noticed a pending charge on my credit card. We arrived at the hotel and saw many cars parked there, but we walked into an empty front desk with no lights on. There were a few young men leaving, and one of them turned around and came back. We asked what was happening, and he told us that the place was no longer open. He was very polite and nice and offered to call the owner to let him know that we were here to check in. We had booked the hotel for three nights. The owner refused to talk to us, and he simply gave a phone number of a person that was supposed to help us find a room. After several phone calls to that person, we still hadn’t heard anything back. Thankfully , we were finally able to find a room on our own. I want to tell you about our stay in the village of Cape Vincent. Every place we went for a meal, whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, was outstanding. The people here were so kind. The area itself is very nice and the St. Lawrence river was beautiful. We would highly recommend to visit this town of...

Read morePro's - Very nice inside. Great job keeping all the wood features. Doors are from a cruise ship and room had vintage mahogany dresser and canopy bed. Check in wasn't until 5, but we were able to contact owner and were able to check in early. Food and service at restaurant/bar was good. Cable was out so there was no TV, but we are supposed to be compensated for this with a room discount Con's - There is no one on site unless the restaurant/bar is open, which isn't until 5:00 pm. Therefore, if you need anything or have any questions, there isn't anyone there to help. No one at check in. You need to go to bar and have bartender check you in. Our room with king size bed was small and the bathroom was tiny. My fiance had a hard time moving around in the shower. It was smaller then our travel trailer shower. No phones, fridge, coffee maker or microwave in room. No plastic cups in bathroom for water. Our room did not have internet. Not sure if it was just our room that had this issue as no there was one there to ask. We know of two couples who could not get out of their rooms due to lock not working. They both called 911 because there was no one on site to help. State trooper came to room next to ours to help couple open their door and then fire department showed up. This could be a very nice hotel if management ran it like a hotel and not just a restaurant/bar. Definitely has great possibilities. Not sure if we would stay...
