XXXXXX Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place at all cost XXXXX. The owner at Hooks Hideaway is a crook. The hotel was shutdown due to recent flooding. We reached there at 9pm after a long day at Glacier NP. The owner lives on the property. He simply said "Its closed, there is no water connection, electricity got restored a day ago, we can not accommodate you". On top of that he denied our refund request, pointing to his cancellation policy. There was no communication from the Hotel to let us know of the flooding and closure of this hotel. So in short, no place provided and they pocketed all the money. As you know, the hotels around Glacier are booked months in advance. He just threw his hands up and said you are on your own. The prices are jacked up compared to what we can see. The place is remote, no cell reception, dirt road for miles to get to the property, spooky dark in the hallways of the hotel, it smelled like humid and moldy, overgrown weeds and grass around everywhere. The check-in sign on the plywood points to a barn, which was locked up and windows shut closed using plywood planks. No sign of human traffic in months. My biggest issues is that the owner told us that the hotel was closed for weeks. They ask for email/phone during booking and had out contact information. How hard is it to reach out to people and let them know that the place is shut down due to flooding. But this all seems deliberate effort to con people, specially when you look at their multiple page cancellation and stringent policy. We ended up not finding any other hotels with vacancy in the area. Has to drive to Canada and finally found a place...
Read moreWe can not recommend Hooks Hideaway enough! It was the perfect place before our entry into Glacier NP. Benny was very helpful with our late night check in. We appreciated that there was a community area with a microwave - we brought some Cup O' Noodles since we knew we were arriving so late. ||My kids met a cat and dogs on our way in, and that made their stay. Every part of our room was clean and new. We loved all of the pine finishings - the desk, doors, nightstands, bathroom, etc. Someone very handy has spent a lot of love and time to make this a beautiful place. ||This hotel saved us over $400 a night compared with staying inside Glacier, and it was just as clean and comfortable. In fact better - there was extra coffee and towels, the most comfortable beds - really everything one would need. Being off the beaten path made it more adventurous and fun, and we were able to see more of the area. We got up early and headed to Many Glacier Hotel for a lovely breakfast and then to St. Mary for a boat tour - both of which I highly recommend. Entering the park from the east means you don't need reservations and the views at Many Glacier are breathtaking and not to be missed.||We are grateful for our stay. Thank you, Hooks Hideway, for your part in such a memorable...
Read moreI cannot speak highly enough of our experience at Hooks Hideaway. Very clean and tidy. Staff were awesome. Remote, but accessible.|One experience I must share. Our rental car fob key battery failed and we were basically stranded due to Alamo’s inability to deliver us neither a battery for the fob or a different vehicle. I contacted the owner, Bill. A Blackfeet Indian. He came over after I called him in the morning (14 hours after we contacted Alamo with no result)|He came over, took my fob ans we did not have passports, and DROVE TO CANADA and purchased a new fob battery for our rental! Bill would not only not accept our gratitude money, he wouldn’t let me pay for the battery! He said, “this is what people do for people” |We were beyond thankful for not only staying in a very nice little motel room, but for the reminder of what humanity and...
