This is the second time we have stayed in the Elk Willows cabin, having come all the way from Australia. And probably not the last time either. ||||Paul Ranch has a variety of different sizes of cabins available. Elk Willows is particularly spacious with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large living area and kitchen. The kitchen is well-stocked. Given that we are in the area to hike and we always get a bit muddy, I particularly appreciate the excellent laundry.||||In June, the wildflowers are amazing, and there is always some wildlife in the area (including a black bear quite close to the Elk Willows cabin while we were there, so you do need to be careful). Bear spray is provided. There is a lovely view from the balcony. ||||For us, one of the greatest attractions is the location. So close to the Many Glacier area, but also only 5 minutes from the Chief Mountain road into Canada (very scenic) or the alternative road to Canada (only about 7 minutes from the border). As we were travelling to and from Canada this time, we actually bought some of our groceries in Canada and it was ok to take them over the border. The border crossing was surprisingly quick, efficient and friendly. Otherwise, note that it is quite a long way from Paul Ranch to anywhere with a decent range of groceries (either Kallispell or Browning), with only convenience items located nearby. However, we tended to eat dinner (and often lunch) out, usually at Two Sisters or the Babb Cattle Baron. ||||Both times we have stayed, the managers have been charming and friendly, although there has been a change of management in between. Booking arrangements have also been smooth...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights on a trip to Glacier National Park. We booked the Elk Willows home on Paul Ranch. We did a lot of research before picking this location as we had never been to Glacier before. We could not have been happier with our decision. We wanted to be able to get to the Many Glacier Area early in the morning for the wildlife and also wanted to visit Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada and this home provided us with easy access to those locations. Saw a moose and calf at Fishercap Lake early morning. My daughters birthday was the day we arrived and the caretakers made and left cupcakes for her arrival. We appreciated being able to come back to a home after long days in the park rather than being in a hotel room and being able to cook breakfast and dinner at the house. Packed sandwiches for lunch. We picked up groceries in Kalispell before arriving and glad we did. Groceries in Browning were a bit high but that is to be expected in the remote east side. Groceries in St. Mary were extremely expensive. Glad we only ended up needing a half gallon of milk from there. House was cleaned everyday. Views from the deck were fantastic but we did not end up seeing any wild life from the home :( We did leave by 5:00 a.m. and did not arrive back before 8:00 p.m. though. Finally saw the alpacas on our last morning leaving the ranch, adorable! Lots of daylight here, light by 5:30 a.m. and still a little light...
Read moreBeware of this property. They can charge you for anything incidental. We booked the property on Expedia, Expedia did not have any extensive rule sheet for this property, upon arrival we saw a sheet where all the rules were written (attached in the screen). Upon checkout we got surprised by seeing $100 incidental charges. They mentioned that we kept dirty dishes in the dishwasher- We cleaned the dishes and kept it in the dishwasher, added pod and just did not start the dishwasher expecting the cleaning people will inspect and start the button. No mention of this in the rule book still we cleaned and put it in the dishwasher. mentioned about dirty kitchen top- we totally cleaned it, and did not expect to clean it in deep as there were cleaning fee and no mention of this in the rule book Did not put the used towels in the laundry area. - Again no mention of this in the rule book and we expect housekeeping should do it. There were couple bear sprays on the table and we took one for our hike and they charged us for this. Again absolutely no mention about this in the attached rule book
If you have already written a detailed rulebook you should write these things in the book at first place so that guests won’t be surprised later or will be well prepared and follow your detailed cleaning requirements...
