Horrible horrible experience. My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night over Memorial Day weekend. We arrived around 9 p.m. since we had traveling to do, and we were welcomed nicely. We went to the restaurant called Kindred Spirits which is on the property and had a late dinner and headed back to the room. To our dismay we had noticed that the bedding was dirty and the carpets look like they had not been shampooed in many many years aside from the room smelling so musty. As an asthmatic, I was having a tough time even breathing in the room and we had to sleep with the windows open all night witch was a bit chilly considering we didn't have any clean sheets to sleep with . Since it was after 10 p.m. when we got back to the room, nobody was in the office for us to address this issue. We had nowhere else to go and were forced to sleep on dirty sheets which really was a complete damper on our night away. When we addressed the issue in the morning, now mind you we left as soon as we could because we could not wait to get out of the room, the man at the desk, please excuse me I can't remember his name, seemed like he really did not even care at all and blamed it on the housekeeper being mentally challenged. They did not offer any type of compensation, they did not show any concern that the bed we slept on was dirty and I was in complete and utter disgust with the entire experience. I have worked in Hospitality for over 10 years and never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined being treated this way or would treat others this way. If I was running a hotel business and my guest complaint about dirty sheets and blankets I would have been completely mortified. And I would have done anything I could to make it right. Anyway, $135 a night(holiday pricing) for dirty sheets and dirty carpet was not worth it and nearly ruined our experience in the...
Read moreThis property has a lodge, cabins and a detached 2 story building with hotel rooms. We stayed in the detached building "motel". I booked because I thought we were bringing our dogs and then decided not to. As soon as we saw the room I wanted to leave, it seemed cleaned but really old furniture, stained, and bed was really old and super bouncy, . I would never book a place like this but photos online say retro, I am ok with newer old but not just old dirty and damaged furniture. No bar, it is a shady "OTB", I tried to play pinball at 7pm and they said sorry game room closed. No TV, ok but nothing else to do here! We stayed during President Days weekend, not once did they light the outdoor fire pit. Breakfast was bagels and not good ones. The chalking was gross in all areas of the bathroom. Front desk staff was ok, but lobby areas not that clean. Stay here only as a last resort or if they charge 60$ a night instead of 150$. You DO NOT get what you pay for here and lots of better option nearby. In fact, we stay at an amazing place 3.5 stars ( more like 4) near by ( 10 miles) with all the amenities and a waterfall view for 50$ more a night. We made the best of it but the owner clearly don't take pride, this could be a gold mine instead it is a toxic waste site! Just no you get nothing but a bed. I actually think the 5 star reviews are BS as a see one that was recently posted about outdoor movies and bonfires, trust me if the are not doing this during President Day weekend 2023 then they were note doing this...
Read moreThis place is a 'retro-jewel' right out of another era, but 'way 'up to par' for modern times. Where do I begin? Primarily, Brian and his wife DeeDee are 'jewels' as people absolutely kind, warm, welcoming, and ALL else you would want from your 'hotel owners' 'on site'. Any issues you may have (or, most likely, 'dream up') will be addressed with no hesitation or time to think = immediately. The rooms (in both 'the lodge' and 'the motel' are perfect in every way) and ALL the 'common areas' from 'guest kitchen/lobby' to 'the pool' to 'the yard' (picnic tables, fire pits, 'candle lanterns', vintage 'outdoor lighting', outdoor 'walk-up' movie screenings at night (!?), tiki bar, and 'games) to the 'bar/lounge/game' room are perfectly layed out and all very comfortable. All staff are 'very friendly' and helpful, including front desk, maintenance, and housekeeping, etc. I don't 'leave reviews' unless I find a very 'special' and/or 'unique' place. If I could give this 'Lodge' 100 stars I would....but do be forewarned once you spend time here you will never again 'joyously reserve' a room at a Marriot, Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn, etc....because you will ALWAYS...be comparing it to the Catskill Mountain Lodge. And, unfortunately for this place's competitors..... there is no chance of topping this mountain jewel. ...
