I absolutely love this place. It's off the beaten path... just about 1/4 mile off Rt 32. There's a motel and rooms you can also rent in a nice little chalet (with your own private sitting area). This place is a freaking gem compared to all the other motels and motor lodges up in the Catskills (Around exit 20 NY Thruway). Every year I meet family at a resort up in Greenville, and usually stop somewhere halfway in the Catskills with my son, just for the night. My goodness, the motels in the area we stayed at over the years are dirty, falling apart, and just plain disgusting. It's a shame seeing all these cool little motor lodges slowly deteriorating. It's really sad. I'm so happy I found the Willow Pond Motel. It feels more like an air bnb. The guy who set us up was super helpful and a total gentleman! This place seriously rocks. Can't wait to hang by the firepit later tonight. I'm telling you right now... DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME BOOKING ANY OF THOSE OTHER MOTELS IN THE CATSKILL AREA. If you're not looking to spend a bunch of money, you definitely want to check this place out. Especially if you're planning on paying like $100 to $150 a night. For that price, the motels in this area are scary....believe me, I've tried 75% of them. This place is very cheap for what you get....
Read moreAt first I was nervous Venmoing money to a random internet stranger to reserve a room here but it proved to be completely worth it. Michael was a friendly, professional and responsive host that made our Catskills stay a pleasant one.
This place appears to be an old Catskills roadside motel that was recently updated and renovated.
The rooms were IMMACULATELY CLEAN and the mattress was 1000x more comfortable than anything found on standard motel bed. Our room was actually an efficiency unit with mini fridge, sink, microwave, dishes and a French press (coffee included). There were a few dogs staying in the motel so next time I’ll bring my mutt. Out back was a fire pit and chairs.
The location of Willow Pond Motel was perfect. Downtown Catskill is an 8-minute drive away and we were conveniently close to Kaaterskill Falls and Hunter Mountain. There is some road noise from 23A (it seems that 40% of the monster pickup trucks here lack mufflers) but it didn’t affect our sleep.
Next time we’d bring a power strip because electrical outlets are in short supply but we’d love to return to this gem in...
Read moreThe room was very neat, well-decorated, and offered all the amenities described. The air conditioning felt great, the beds were comfortable, and the owner left out brochures for local restaurants, things to do, etc which was appreciated. Only two negatives people should be aware: first, place is very small. We expected this judging by the appearance of the longhouse on line so we weren't surprised. Second however is that there is a space between bottom of the door and we assume it let in a lot of spiders, as we found many of them on the walls in our second night. We put towel at the bottom of door to stop them from coming in when we were there. Didn't ruin our time, but something to be aware if you're...
