Gathering Place Resort & Lodge — Hotel in Town of Cedar Lake

Our extended family of nine stayed for a week at the Gathering Place for the fifth year. I can't say enough about how great the resort and Mike and Deanna are as owners. They are constantly making improvements every year to make it an amazing destination. They have a pontoon which the whole family used one day and a fishing boat with trolling motor to use as well. Great chain of lackes to fish as we caught almost every species and a few great large mouth bass. If you go during the summer, it's live music on Tuesdays with a great menu and bar to enjoy the event. We already booked for next year. We even swam in the sand bottom lake they built but had just as much fun in the clean lake too. Golfing at Turtleback just 15 miles away. Great restaurants within 10 minutes. (Loved Birch Lake Resort for the view and Mamma Groppes Railside for pizza.) I've written about 3 reviews at the 50 plus places I've stayed at in the past 5 years but felt like they deserve this- but was never asked to write a review. Little extra tip. Try lunch at Stout Island but book before you go as it's worth seeing touring the island just yards...

We recently stayed at The Gathering Place for an entire week, as well as hosting our wedding on the grounds and it was everything we wanted it to be! The setting by the lake is serene and peaceful, with abundant wildlife that made every moment feel like an escape into nature. The cabin we stayed in had the most breathtaking views of both the sunrises and sunsets, creating a romantic atmosphere that was perfect for our special occasion.||During our stay, we learned how to kayak on the lake, which was such a fun and memorable experience, and gave us a new active hobby to pursue! Deanna was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. She provided excellent recommendations for things to do in the area and truly went above and beyond to make our wedding and mini-honeymoon unforgettable. The cabin Scenic Pines was the perfect spot for us to base out of for a friends' fall weekend of 4 wheeling. Owners were kind in bending their 3 day policy to two days. Appreciated! Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a message and many goodies. They even had a 4 wheeling map booklet for us in the basket! Thoughtful! The cabin was so clean, well stocked, had comfy beds and pillows, and decorated nicely. The owners were pleasant and fun to talk to. Due to the resort's policy, we had to trailer our 4 wheelers to the Pit Stop which was only a few miles from the resort but it wasn't inconvenient at all. We understood as they have a beautiful place with a marvelous playground for little ones and safety is a priority. Would love to return for another adventure...
