Tagalong Golf & Resort — Hotel in Town of Cedar Lake

We rented the bunkhouse for our family that traveled 5 hrs for what was supposed to be a nice getaway. As soon as we walked in you could tell this place was not clean. We couldn't open the windows because there were years worth of spider webbs and bees. When we went into the bedrooms we found droppings on the bed as well as the bathroom floors.. the lamps in the bedrooms didn't work. The first morning we woke up to make coffee there was mold covering the bottom of the coffee pot... luckily we brought our own. The whole time we were there you could hear scratching noises(now the droppings we saw made sense) The morning we were leaving my niece came to the house and took a video of 5 chipmunks playing tag in the living room running and jumping all over the furniture. I guess I didn't realize that after paying $1200.00, we would have to share the house with rodents. The worst part about it was when we called Mandi after we got home to discuss these issues we were told basically that we were lying and that we should have called her about this while we were there. Never once apoligized or offered any sympathy what so ever. Terrible customer service and a terrible place to rent. We tried calling the owner to speak to him about this but was never called back. Don't recommend this...

Beautiful well manicured course. My daughter and I arrived a little early but they were running behind schedule. Not a problem. The party before us was four people, and the party before them was even larger. They were mid level slow players just out to have a good time. They didn't look rushed. We started late, still not a problem.

This was the general trend for the rest of the day. We ended up waiting to start on just about every hole as the party before us cleared the fairway. I didn't have a problem with this, golf isn't a sprint and the weather was nice.

Around the seventh hole my daughter was getting ready to pitch onto the green, and an employee drove up and explained that we should be on the green already. I looked up to the next tee, and the party before us was waiting for the team ahead of them, so even if we were on the green, and finished the hole quickly, we would have been waiting on the tee with the party ahead of us. I'm not sure what the push was. I explained that to the employee, and he nodded and said he was telling everyone they needed to hurry, not just us.

Maybe they just overbooked that day. Not sure.

Regardless, it is a beautiful course and I would play again. Maybe on a day that...

The resort location was convenient for the wedding we attended on Stout's Island. We rented a 3 bedroom unit overlooking one of the holes on the golf course. The kitchen was well stocked with glasses and coffee cups. There wasn't anywhere on site to have breakfast, we needed to drive in to town, as nothing was open for breakfast. The units were adequately furnished. We did have a problem with door lock and no one returned any of our calls (5 calls and to all the extensions listed) from the main desk, there was no one there. Our door was difficult to open and then we couldn't lock it until we finally found someone the next evening at the main desk. A little concerning leaving the door unlocked for the day and the evening as we slept. It was fixed the following night. We did have lunch at the bar/restaurant on site and would recommend ||Not good for families with small children, beach area was not somewhere you'd want to let children swim, uncared for and weedy. Golf was only activity and some fishing if you had your own boat with you, or arranged to rent one from a local spot. We were at a wedding, so we didn't have to stay around resort very long.
