I would love to give WFC a better review but there are a few things. First, let me start with the positives:||-For tents, there are 10 sights and they are really big and nicely shaded.||-There is a lot to do at the campground like giant chess and free paddle boards, kayaks, etc.. and a nice recreation room if it's raining. And there is no extra cost for these things. (Super nice)||-The bathrooms are clean and there are a lot of them with clean, hot showers.||-They have a nicely stocked camp store with reasonable prices and you can just put stuff on your account.||-One manager (Rick?) was really nice and helped us move picnic tables.||||||Negatives:||-Getting someone on the phone is often difficult. So if you have a question or an issue you have to wait until you walk to the store.||-If you need to leave the campground at odd hours, you will need to ask for a pass because they don't hand them out and you will get locked out.||-There are a lot of rules (not NYS rules) at the beach that don't really make a lot of sense, like having an adult in the water with kids under 14 over the 3 ft water mark... age has nothing to do with swimming ability and they have 2 lifeguards that should be watching the kids if you don't allow "swim at your own risk". ||-They are super eager to close the beach at the first sound of thunder which happens most Summer afternoons.||-If you go during the week and you aren't a "seasonal" then you can forget doing a lot of the things that they offer like the giant water slide and the water toy at the lake and the bounce pillow, etc.... because they don't offer them except on weekends. I was told they did us a "favor" by opening up the slide for our group of 21 people for a 1/2 hour on 1 day of our stay. Short-staffed was the reason but they didn't offer a discount on our reservation. We never did get to use the other things like the water toy (Wiget?), the bounce pillow, etc...||-They don't let you use the pedal bikes if it's too hot outside.||-The staff ladies in the store are quite snippy when you voice displeasure.||-It does seem that the seasonal campers get preferential treatment.||-There seems to be no recycling on site. I called the office to ask but no one answered or called me back.||||My take-away.... maybe we would go back, not sure. But I would have to know that they were staffed well so we could use the amenities that come with the reservation. This campground seems to be best for RV Seasonal Campers. I did express all of these things in person to a couple of women staff members in the store but they didn't want to hear it and were defensive.||Maybe some improvements would be to reorganize rules for the swimming area especially for when it's not super busy, make sure you are staffed for the amount of people you have reservations for and a staff training on...
Read moreThey advertise "lakeside campsites" very misleading since ALL the prime sites and lakeside sites are taken by seasonal campers. Looks like a shantytown. They didn't give us a choice of camp site. They simply stuck us in the middle of a field and tried to say the field is the most popular sites. Funny because none of the seasonal campers want to be in the field. Being put in the field put us next to the pavilion which lucky us it was Christmas in july weekend so we had no choice but to listen to Christmas carols all morning on Saturday. The campers next to us were not impressed either. They also put us 30 yards from a construction site they had going on. So we woke up to hammering nails at 7 AM. Yes. 7 am. Even though "quiet hours " as stated in Waubeeka rules are 11pm -8am. Great way to wake up. They refused to let us put our tent trailer on a tent site thus putting us far from the bathrooms and showers. They said most RV's have showers and bathrooms in them. News flash MOST TENT TRAILERS DO NOT ! We complained upon checkout but got no real resolution in fact one staff member took offense and scolded us for booking online instead of calling. News flash. We did call ! Needless to say we won't be back to Waubeeka family campground. If I want to camp in a field I can do it for less than the $48 per night Waubeeka charges. Oh and NO SWIMMING POOL EITHER !,
RESPONSE TO OWNER
we did not arrive on the wrong date. Your staff booked us on the wrong date. Big difference. You did not offer us any prime sites because they are all taken by your seasonal campers. LAKESIDE SITES ARE NEVER AVAILABLE! There were some wooded sites available but we weren't even offered those. YOU broke the quiet hours policy not us. By hammering nails from 7am on. You blasted Christmas music all day Saturday july 15th and annoyed everyone whom you stuck in the middle of a field.
SEE OTHER ONE STAR REVIEW Same issue. All lakeside sites taken by seasonals. Why are they even listed on your website Waubeeka ? Bait and...
Read moreWe stayed from Friday - Monday. As soon as we pulled in it was like a sausage factory. Campsites are right on top of each other. Ours was in an open field. No shade. Thank goodness we didn't get the ones that are on complete gravel (no shade) and off a black top road= hot as hell! This place caters to their seasonals. If you're a seasonal then the rules don't apply to you. For starters, quiet time is a joke bc there is NO quiet time. 2AM and the loud screams, music, golf carts, you name it! My 16 year old son was scolded by a camp staffer bc he was riding a bike without a helmut...ok that's fine if that's your rule but we spent the rest of the weekend watching seasonal kids zoom past our site without one. When I approached the staffer who had just reprimanded my son and asked why he didn't say anything to the girls that rode by he ignored me and drove away on his golf cart. All weekend long the seasonal site across from us was using a chain saw....for what, I don't know. 8 AM in the morning! We had some jerk ride his golf cart through our campsite completely drunk - which by the way is another rule that the seasonals don't follow. At 10AM Saturday morning there were numerous seasonals out for a ride in their golf carts with beers in their hands - same people still riding around around at 10PM anebriated. Such a joke bc one of the rules clearly states "open containers are not allowed in ANY vehicle." AND "driving any vehicle while intoxicated will result in eviction." The lake, if you even want to call it that is beyond gross. They have a very small beach area/water inflatable playground. Geese love it there. Geese poop and feathers all over the water. Took our dog to the Dog Park (very cute) but when we approached the sally port he (another seasonal) told us his dog is not friendly around other dogs as a warning to us. Well why the hell do you have him in a freaking dog park?!!! Needless to say we will not go back here. Not a fan of being treated like crap by staff and the...
