One star for the beauty of the campground only. And thatâs being nice. Had a horrible experience at this campground with our pet. The owner watched us all weekend and was constantly picking at our dog. Our dog is well trained and harmless. Unfortunately, on our first night he escaped the car, with no leash attached yet, when someone opened the car door and our dog ran at him and his dog (didnât hurt him or his dog, because heâs harmless) and the owner got terrified and picked on us/watched us extremely close since then⊠Even after I apologized because I understood that the experience could have been scary to him and his dog, and I spoke to him and agreed to do my part to follow all of his rules. I respected his leash rules the whole time. I did my best to make sure my dog didnât bark or bother anyone. I was very kind and apologetic yet he continued to target me the rest of the time. I have been camping at many of both private and state ran campgrounds and have NEVER experienced anything like this. Do not bring your dog, they are literally not allowed to bark at this campground, and Iâm not exaggeratingâŠwhich makes no sense because dogs bark - much like people talk. And if you have a large breed dog, I highly suggest even more you donât bring your dog. The owner is 110% biased because he had a bad experience with a large breed dog (which he lied to me to my face about but then admitted to one of my family members).||||On our second night, he blamed our dog for barking when our dog wasnât even at the campground the night he accused him of âbarking all nightâ!!! I had left with our dog the second night we stayed and stayed at a friends house down the road because I didnât want to be watched or continuously bothered by the owner like I was. I didnât even ask for a refund either because he charges an extra $5 per night to have a dog on his property. Regardless that I wasnât there with our dog, he continued to accuse. Absolutely ridiculous and not professional at all - especially for a guest attending a wedding (who is family to the bride, which is important since he admitted that he was making âexceptionsâ for the brideâs motherâs dog). He wanted me to take our dog off of the premises for the wedding, while his dog and other dogs were walking around the premises. Professional tip - donât admit that youâre making exceptions for one person but not make them for the other. Donât make exceptions at all if you have such a âstrictâ pet policy. And donât allow pets at all if youâre going to discriminate against large breed dogs and practically expect dogs to wear a muzzle the whole time because barking âannoys youâ (yes, he told me to my face that barking âannoys him,â even though we heard his dog barking at the campground as well).||||I was left crying by myself, missing the wedding I was attending for two special people in my life, and ended up making an executive decision to send our dog home because I felt that he was SO unwanted at this campground and I couldnât have a good time if he was there. It ruined my time the whole entire time during the wedding reception after the owner pulled me aside to pick on us for the last time. When running a campground, people should be allowed to bring their pets. You are OUTDOORS. Especially for tent campers! Unreal. I will never be back, and neither will any of my family or friends. I canât even find all of the right words to describe this experience. Do not bring your pet if you stay here. Read the pet policy on the website so you understand the craziness of this campgroundâs pet policy.||||I canât wait to see the ownerâs response to this. He was excited to âclarifyâ why he acted the way he did this weekend. Donât let him fool you though. I PROMISE you do not want to bring your dog to this campground. He really should not even allow any pets all with the way he treats the pets and...
Read moreWe didn't use the event space, only stayed there with our camper.
Great location to get to all the things Saratoga Springs has to offer.
Due to staying there in the fall, the small lake/pond with a sandy beach area looked well maintained, but I didn't use it.
It had 2 modest cabins that you could rent and looked nice from the outside.
The sites were dirt and pretty level. On a block to get use perfect. The full hookup utilities were all well maintained good working order ( sewer was good height and location, water had great pressure and clean, the power had constant power at correct amperage with a new box). Our site and most sites had a lot of space . Our site was very wide; fit camper and two vehicles all side by side, with room to have campfire and picnic table (included) towards the back of the site. The table was new and sturdy. There is plenty of space between sites. The roads are gravel and well maintained.
It has a very modest playground area that could use a little TLC. We were not here for that amenity.
It is a smal camp ground, has I think 20 sites, but a great location to go get to what Saratoga Springs has to offer. I would say a 3rd of the sites appear to be seasonal.
What lost them from getting a 5 star eating was the restroom/bathhouse. We didn't use them, well you couldn't use the showers as it was full of construction rubble, and the toilets and sinks could use a lot of TLC as well.
Likely stay again if I'm looking to sneak away to Saratoga Spring and not have to spend higher cost for...
Read moreI was looking for a campground near Saratoga Springs for a Lacrosse Tournament we were attending. Found Rustic Barn through a google search. This is a very clean and well maintained campground made up of mostly seasonal sites. The campground is small so I am glad I booked my 4 nights back in March. The rates were very reasonable and included electric, water and septic. No cable but not a problem. There are 2 bath houses but one only had toilets available as the showers are going through a remodel. The other bath house had, what looked like new showers in the ladies room. Very clean and spacious. Normally with our travel trailer the lack of showers would not be an issue. We had extra people staying with us, so to make things easier I used the bath house a few times. The campground has 2 beautiful cabins directly across from the pond (with a swimming area). Free wifi also. The owner, Matt, was fantastic. The campground has a large, beautiful barn that is used for weekend functions(mostly weddings I assume). It is gorgeous! This campground is extremely quiet. I am glad we left our dog home because he would have probably gotten us tossed due to his tendency to bark at any little sound! (Big old Golden). If you camp here and enjoy a good hike, the Spruce Mountain Firetower trail is just a few minutes down the road. Great hike! If we ever travel to upstate NY again I will definitely stay here!! ...
