The Villa Bernice is, to put it mildly, absolutely unreal, one of the two or three best B and B's I've ever used. The hosts, Marianne and Tony Spycher, treat you like family in every way; you have full access to the spacious living room and decks at all hours. I wish I had taken photos of the breakfasts Marianne prepares, rhubarb pie, apple pancakes, quiches... (and always sausage, bacon, and scrambled eggs...as much as you want! ) . The view is lovely, the surrounding forest is open and inviting....and you are only 5-10 minutes from Rt. 17 . My 18 year old son, with whom I was traveling to do some hiking, was flabbergasted, and we have traveled together all over the country, using Band B's whenever possible. Before leaving home he assured me that it seemed like a really nice place; after experiencing the warmth, caring...and breakfasts to die for, he couldn't stop thanking our hosts when we left. As to their not allowing dogs, this place is immaculate, and their grandchildren spend a lot of time there. I am asthmatic, and while I love hiking and wildlife, dog hairs on the sofa or in the air are things I can do without. There are plenty of other choices for those with guide dogs; this is, after all, someone's home, not a hotel! Of course, dirty boots and sneakers are welcome here; the Spychers do expect that many of their guests like the outdoors ( Tony is a rock climber ) . I could go on and on about the camraderie and totally relaxing feeling one gets here, but I think I've...

Wonderful husband/wife B&B owners with impeccable taste, old-world courtesy and charm with a magnificent hand designed and hand built home with fantastic presentation. Located at a picture-perfect location on the mountain, with a birds-eye view of the entire valley below and mountain range in the distance. Every amenity normally reserved for a loved one were given to us. The room we chose was of perfect design and comfort. Stalled glass shower and full 2-person Jacuzzi bath. Double wash basins and an decor not normal seen in a bathroom. Canopy king bed, chaise lounge (circa the sixteen hundreds, I believe), full heat-AC controlled by you, and on and on. The breakfast could take dozens of paragraphs to describe. Let it just be known that all (and I mean ALL) are freshly made, by hand, by Marianne each morning. Each morning's variety is amazingly extensive with French toast, strudel, quiche, waffles, cobblers, and to-die-for croissants, fresh fruit, jams, sausages, bacon, cold cuts, and, (once again), on and on and on! Add to this their remarkable lifetime experiences, their book collection and the Corning museum about 8 minutes away and you have absolutely no reason to not book immediately. Be forewarned however, Marianne and Tony only take a maximum of 4 guests at any one time. Often only two at a time. So plan ahead. Tell them that Regina and...
Read moreVilla Bernese is a must do if you're looking for a luxurious B&B in the Corning area. Located at the end of a long tree lined driveway you will be amazed at what you see. A beautiful Swiss type chalet overlooking the valley below. The owners Tony and Marianne left nothing to the imagination in locating and building the perfect place to live. Tony, a professional engineer and Marianne a professional interior decorator, designed, built and furnished their house magnificently. You can see instantly that no cost was spared in any part of their home. Our stay couldn't have been any better as they are the perfect host and hostess. The breakfast the following morning was better than that of any 5 star hotel. Having coffee prior to breakfast I had the opportunity to see Marianne & Tony at work. Imagine a table set with all homemade items, grilled grapefruit, a soufflé, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast with fresh fruit, warm croissants, a cheese board and a European cold meat tray. The list goes on and the food was endless. To top off our stay Tony gave us a tour of his 'man cave' and the wine cellar he built. The only disappointing part of our stay was having to leave. Tony and Marianne made us feel like we were part of their family. They are truly wonderful people and we hope that we can visit...
