We had a ok time here, the hosts were very kind and breakfast was lovely. We did cut our 2 day trip short and headed home second night, for a combination of reasons. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable (a bit soft, we sunk in quite a bit!) but the finishes were very worn and in places tattered. The bathroom and carpet looked to be from the early 90s and I think would really benefit from an update, especially the shower/shower head for comfort. The room also smelled faintly of gas from the fireplace, we looked to inform the owners before we left but couldn’t find them. I would love to see the owners invest in updating the finishes of the rooms, the room we were in (Helen’s) could really shine!
The other reason we left was because of two surprising interactions with other guests. One guest yelled at us for parking in “his spot” because it was in front of “his room”. If this is the case, it would be helpful to label the parking spots- we chose to ignore him because he was being an a** and was already parked just a few feet away. The other interaction was with a guest who rudely told us to “get off his private screened porch” at the side of the house, because it was “exclusively for his room.” There were no signs on either door of the porch, and we had sat out there without incident on a previous visit to the BnB. If this is the case, I would suggest the hosts add a sign to the doors to prevent confusion and future altercations.
The area itself is lovely with a nice stream running nearby, and close proximity...
Read moreThe inn is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on the Crystal River. Paul and Shayna are a super friendly and welcoming couple who have coffee and tea ready to go. I visited with my father and we were the only two guests on a weekday in June. We had rooms across the hall from each other: my room had a sink and his had a full bath room. The inn was spotless (the county health inspection was the next morning but it didn't seem like they had to do anything special for it); the windows were shiny. They were still installing screens after the cool spring in some of the windows.
Breakfast was two courses: yogurt parfait then an egg bake with sweet potatoes. There was coffee, tea, and orange juice. We rented the two kayaks and followed the route they gave us. It was a super kayak trip with many little lakes and a fun, fast-moving river. We ended up continuing to Red Mill where Paul picked us up (45 minutes before the inspection!). Because they could, they were very flexible with our checkout time after our paddle.
They book up quickly for summer weekends but we were able to get a middle of the week room...
Read moreMy husband and I got married at the Crystal River Inn in August, 2020. We were originally planning for just our ceremony to be held there and to have the reception at a different location. With COVID we ended up reducing our numbers within the final months of wedding planning and held both the ceremony and reception at the Crystal River Inn. Paul and Shayna couldn't have been more accommodating with this last minute change. They worked with our wedding planner and provided recommendations for local vendors, which we ended up using. The ceremony and reception were both held outside and we rented the entire property for the weekend. Our guests absolutely loved the space and appreciated the ease and comfort that came with staying on the property. Not to mention, the breakfasts provided by Paul and Shayna were absolutely delicious. I couldn't recommend the Crystal River Inn more for a simple weekend getaway or for a larger event. I grew up coming to this area in the summers with my family so being able to get married here was extremely sentimental and special. Thank you, Paul & Shayna, for all...
