Flyway Resort — Hotel in Town of Elk

Dad and I have been coming to Phillips for decades and used to eat at this location when it was Birch Island. We have not stayed at the cabins, but they look nice. We decided to check out the restaurant again and found it to be a great decision. Angela, one of the owners, greeted us kindly and we spoke about the changes they have made. The restaurant was very clean and nicely updated. Dad and I both had burgers and liked very much each of our choices. There was a wings special that seemed popular and I was also quite tempted to get the Philly Cheesesteak. I liked that the menu was not overly large and had numerous sandwich and appetizer choices. I was glad to see that people were coming in throughout our time inside because it's a slower season up here now. They have nice looking cabins right on the lake, a beach, sand volleyball and outdoor dining tables also looking out at the water. Husband and I got a couple days away and it was fabulous!! Holly and Dan were great showing us around the camp ground and making sure everything was up to par.Fishing was good off of the docks. We rented a boat at a reasonable price for the day and the fishing was okay but would have been better if we waited later in the day. The cabins are exactly what we expected, clean and comfortable. So not only is the location fantastic with individual docks for fishing and or hanging out at the beach area but hey have a volleyball court, horseshoes, arcade games in the restaurant/bar and canoes and or paddleboats for usage (at no extra cost).
