We enjoyed Hideaway very much, until the ownership changed. Since the new male owner took over, the atmosphere has changed, drastically, for the worse. The last straw was an incident that occurred Memorial Day weekend, as we began our third summer as seasonal campers under the new ownership. To get to our site, my wife had to slowly pass around a camper that was stopped alongside the campsite road. She didn't know how long they were going to be stopped there, and no one directed her. As she reached our site, the male owner zipped up to her car in his golf cart and before she could get out, he sarcastically said, "You couldn't wait FIVE MINUTES?" He was very concerned about his grass, which showed no damage from her tires. She reacted to him sarcastically, as he had done to her. She must have hit his "button," because then he started to yell at her. She closed her car window and covered her face. He continued to menace her, yelling at her while going from side to side around the car. She sat in the car, afraid to do anything. He left; my neighbor, who had witnessed everything, asked if she was alright. I then arrived, and the male owner came back. I asked him for an apology for his behavior toward my wife. Instead, he continued to berate us during the ensuing discussion and stated that he wanted us out of the park by the end of the week. He stated that he would not give us a refund and said that he could have our camper removed (He did eventually give us back approximately 55% of our money back, but kept the rest). We pulled out the next morning. Per several veteran campers, the male owner is known for having a history of run-ins with people who he deems to be troublesome . He has no problem targeting women in particular. It is my opinion and recommendation not to stay at Hideaway Campground. I believe that the male owner has a potential to be dangerous, as he can appear friendly at first and has a nice smile, but he will turn on you. He is prone to sudden and unpredictable mood swings and uncontrollable fits of rage. This man should not be trusted with anyone's family's safety and security.

Read moreThis clean and green, small park is about 4 miles off interstate 88. Grovenors Corners road is a bit narrow, and we swiped a few tree branches. Janice Lane is also narrow but the trees are high. The campground has a nice, curved entrance that makes it easy to enter. Hide-A-Way is a very pretty, well manicured park with lots of grass and trees. When we pulled in the owner, Paul, promptly greeted us and introduced himself. His wife, Kim, appeared a few minutes later. Both are just delightful, warm people. Paul led us to our site on the nicely graveled interior roads. We had one of the two pull thru sites. They are right next to each other, and luckily for us, no one was in the second site. Both sites are gravel and pretty level. The utilities worked great. There are quite a lot of tent sites behind the pull thru sites so things could be quite “active” during the high season. It was very quiet when we were here, and we slept marvelously. The spacing between all the sites is very generous separated by grass so there is no privacy. Many sites are tiered so there may be some leveling involved. There are quite a lot of seasonals, and their sites are neat and tidy. Satellite is possible as some sites are in the open, and others are backed up to trees. They don’t have cable. WI-FI, unfortunately, did not work - we couldn’t even connect. Verizon was 4g 1-2 bars although 5g 1 bar popped up every now and again. Our Verizon hot spots worked but a bit on the slow side. Paul stopped us on our way out to make sure everything was ok with our stay, and to share some hints on the route back to the interstate. The owners are an unquestionable asset as well as the shipshape grounds. We would definitely...
Read moreVery disappointing. My boyfriend and I chose to stay at this campground because the website says the pool is heated. I even commented to the owner and his daughter when we checked in about how excited I was for the heated pool. The daughter replied with “it closes at 7”. When we went to go swim I couldn’t even wade in past my hips. The water couldn’t have been more than 70. Definitely not a heated pool. They just use a solar cover. They could have mentioned that they no longer heat the pool or that the heater was broken or something when I brought it up! We booked a water and electric tent site. Electric worked great but the water spout was meant for a hose to attach. It shot straight out and was impossible to use without getting soaked. We were also followed back to our site and yelled at by the owner for speeding through the park. We weren’t even going fast enough for the speedometer on our car to register how fast we were going. We apologized and the owner was still acting very upset and rude. Would not ever...
