(This is a very late review, but just finally getting around to sharing our experience!) We booked our rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks and wedding after-party at Woodhouse Lodge as all private events. We had been working with the Woodhouse Lodge Team for quite some time in preparation for our events surrounding our September 3rd, 2022 wedding and they were very accommodating and willing to work with us through all of our iterations and ideas for these events. This area is not a very large area, so there are limited choices for wedding after-parties, but we were so thrilled with our decision after everything was finished. (Woodhouse Lodge at the time was a newer venue that was recommended by our local wedding planner). Our wedding was almost 100% out-of-town guests, so this was essentially a destination wedding for us. The rehearsal dinner/welcome party had a amazing food, the venue itself was beautiful (and even beautifully decorated with some flowers which was such a sweet surprise!), but the after-party was simple but PHENOMENAL, and the best way to wrap up our wedding weekend. We were a little bit worried with the strict noise ordinances in town what the after-party vibes would be like, but when we arrived with almost our entire wedding via limo shuttle busses, the staff was in great spirits, ready to serve, had the BEST after-party music playing, and kept the drinks flowing, late night pizzas we pre-ordered and our guests so happy all night. If you are using the Woodhouse Lodge for any wedding welcome parties or after-parties, we definitely recommend you providing transportation like we did if you can just due to limited parking, and it gets quite dark on those backroads at night with lots of deer (and so you and your guests can fully let loose!). Thank you Woodhouse Lodge Team...
Read moreThis is a lovely lodge and it's clear that a lot of attention has been paid to style and customer service. The staff is very responsive and communicated with multiple texts throughout our three night stay.||||There are some unique perks, such as the continuous fire pit activity and s'mores kit. The bed was extremely comfortable and the property, overall, is beautiful.||||There is some room for minor improvements, though. While there are plenty of places to hang belongings, shelf space is extremely minimal. More space could easily be created in the closet.||||The bedside trunk is great to look at, but with no storage it is not very functional. The electric teapot is also nice, but we had to be really creative to use it. I suppose cups might have been available upon request.||||The placement of the towel bar in the bathroom is strange. When used, the towel hangs completely over the TP dispenser. Hmmm.....||||All of this is very minor. However, what we weren't prepared for was the lack of sound insulation between rooms. This is understandable given the age of the structure. I would think something could be done, though. As awkward as it would be, it might be good to point this out to guests so they could try to keep quieter? We could hear our neighbors as if they were in the room with us.||||There was a young child in the next room, even though the property is adults-only. Again, I cannot blame management. The family had reservations, shows up, and then what can be done?||||We had a great time, all considering. I would recommend this lodge regardless of the...
Read moreMy wife and I along with our baby visited Woodhouse Lodge recently, and absolutely loved our trip. We planned a couple days getaway and unfortunately it was quite cold and rainy for end of May (40s... wow) but that didn't dampen our experience one bit. We were greeted upon arrival to a seamless check-in (our room was even ready hours before our scheduled check-in) and were given plenty of suggestions of things to do and see in the surrounding area. While our trip was rather short, we chose to spend a day walking around Hudson (~30 minute drive) and ended both nights at the Woodhouse Pizza restaurant next door which has a fantastic menu. Everything we ordered was great to say the least. We tried a couple different pizzas that we loved - don't sleep on the sides / small plates either.
The hotel also has a very welcoming space with a common fireplace to enjoy, s'mores provided upon check-in, and a kitchen / lounge area for the guests to enjoy (packed with all kinds of games, items to purchase, and just overall good vibe). We spent plenty of time enjoying the outdoors, sitting by the fire which was a perfect touch.
The service was also outstanding from the beginning of our stay through the end. Fresh coffee and breakfast to order in the mornings, and always a welcome conversation about anything from the hotel's history, to activities and experiences to get into while visiting.
An outstanding wedding venue, I'm sure. But also a cozy, quaint spot to getaway and take in all that Upstate NY has to offer. Thank you so much, Woodhouse! We will be back soon,...
