Stayed on a tent site for 2 weeks and 2 days. Planned only to stay for 1 week and 2 days, however was recommended by a worker to stay an extra week. This extra week may have been a bad decision... The first week of our stay my sister, and our 2 daughters set up a nice site. My sister had her tent up, we had my niece's tent up, my daughters, and my tent were up, and an extra tent was put up for the picnic table/eating area. All together we had up 4 tents for 10 days, and the picnic table tent was up so we weren't constantly attacked by yellow jackets, (there is an over abundance of yellow jackets). On the 10th day, as i stood there paying for a second week, i was informed that we were only allowed 2 tents on site, and was asked to take 1 down. No issue, as we took down the picnic table tent, and quickly came up with a solution to stay protected from being stung while we eat. Although it was a bit odd to be asked 10 days into our vacation to be asked to take 1 tent down, especially while being the only tent campers 4 out out the 7 days in the week, we moved the table into mine and my daughters tent. Also in the first week, a seasonal camper here, made an accusation that we had inscribed our initials into a table, most likely because we were where the tables were, and heard them talking to their children very inappropriately, and definitely spoke amongst ourselves about what they were saying (not quietly). He/they, told the owner that they saw someone do it and walk back to our site, no photo, or video proof, and totally not even close to our initials. Also these letter took time, they looked carved into the table and burned also, mind you, we have plastic knives and the only fire sources we have a camp fire, far from the tables, and regular bic cigarette lighters. So naturally into the 2nd week, we definitely feel unwelcome, and as if we are more of an annoyance, than a profitable campsite... Other than our personal experience there, the week days are super peaceful, nicely maintained, and quiet. They are very clean, and seem to take a lot of pride in their hard work. We also appreciate the hardwork the owners and the workers here, put in, everyday. The weekends are your typical fun, party, loud, camp times. Lots of people to meet, lots of children for your children to meet, swimming, parks, ect. Reasonable...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been the occasional camper for most of my life and this place is a gem! It's beautiful and simple. The word resort doesn't refer to the number of 'entertain me' activities because it's really just good old fashioned camping- as in you make your own fun! There are a few activities planned throughout each month (there was a huge community bonfire on Saturday night and bingo for $1/board). That said, the community of campers (RVs, tents a few cabins) are a wonderful, easy going, peaceful in the morning, fun in the evening sort of bunch! This place is perfect for those who truly love just camping and the outdoors. Bring your bicycles, yard games, card games, floats and athletic shoes and go out to play then relax. There's so much I can say- it has dated yet clean, simple facilities, a stocked store of essentials, very helpful and caring owners who are usually available for any questions you'd have, and beautiful well-maintained grounds. Last, I would warn, that if you're looking for the newest facilities and the best and most activities to keep kids entertained, you should look to the the KOAs and Yogi Bear type campgrounds but if you want simple and beautiful try this place! It was so much better than the others in my opinion (and I have kids and have been to those other high energy campgrounds). Also, the prices are reasonable and you reserve space by phone which turns out is far better than booking online, trust me from experience! Enjoy your stay! Thank you for a wonderful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wish I could give this place 0 stars we booked 4 sites for the weekend. On the map is clearly stated a swimming pond separate from the fishing area. Our children 5 and under wearing boots decided to play in a very shallow area of the water. There were about 3-4 people fishing spread around the pond. Rudely we were screamed at across the pond to get out of the water - we didn't hear the first time but told our kids to stay out just to be safe. Our children stayed near the shore and were again SCREAMED at to stay out of the water, we were extremely offended as the workers had both trucks and golf carts and could have easily driven over to explain to us the situation there was a fishing derby this weekend that we were not told about. A person from our group yelled back to drive over and treat us properly to which the employee gave us the middle finger got in his truck and sped up to the office. 2 people in our group went to the office to address the situation where they continued to be screamed at, threatened with the cops and the owner stated "you are lucky my husband isn't here" - we will NEVER be staying at this campground again, to treat us so disrespectfully in front of our YOUNG children is un-called for as we are paying customers and all because we were standing in the designated...
