Stayed at the Lodge near the end of August with another couple we knew. This unit has its own private sand beach and a float you can swim out to. It also comes with a canoe and rowboat for your use. House was well maintained and a pleasure to stay in. The kitchen was nicely equipped to prepare most any meal. Not air conditioned, but good breezes off the lake. Open but roofed porch over an outside picnic table. Great views of the lake from all rooms. The location is next to a major road which could be somewhat noisy at times. The host/owner, Jay was very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. Not many stores close by in town except a Stewart's and a hardware/sporting goods store so go prepared. A lot of hiking trails and fishing spots near by. Fall asleep listening to the Loons calling. Would definitely go back.

An excellent Adirondack experience. Cabins are great, modern amenities but still keeping that rustic feel. Owners were very accommodating to the needs of my family. The lake is gorgeous with plenty of prime fishing spots for pike, bass the occasional musky and all the other usual suspects. Hearing the loons singing at night..watching the ospreys by the road as well as a resident bald eagle making an appearance were all icing on the cake. Good food and supply options close by in town. Not far from other good lakes and fishing spots. We look forward to returning hopefully again next year. Highly recommended.

This was our second year staying at the Lodge. The lodge is our favorite Adirondack vacation spot in Indian Lake with its own private beach and floating dock on Lake Abanakee: We enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming and just sitting by the fire pit at night. Jay and his family took great care of us and I cannot recommend Locke Harbor enough. We love it and plan to be back.

BE AWARE !!! Awful hospitality, guest services, no maintenance on the property. What started out to be a promised kid friendly stay by the cabin owner quickly turned into a unfit experience for my family. What’s a summer vacation with no swimming? With 90+degree weather my children were definitely expecting to enjoy the property’s lakefront beach but unfortunately it looked like a litter box with goose droppings completely covering the whole beach. They came once and cleaned one beach and told us to use the other litter box beach. Apparently you had to make a daily complaint in order to have the beaches cleaned because their was no regular maintenance on the property. The beaches were also very unkept with landscape weed mat popping through everywhere. They had a swim dock (they must have photoshop on their website )to swim out to and jump off in the lake that when we looked it was in the middle of a bunch lily pads and weeds. To top this one off, when my husband went in the lake, he caught a hook in his foot because they let anyone fish anywhere with no signage, so swimming for our children was definitely not happening we didn’t need them with hooks in their feet or with E.Coli from the goose droppings.||Then we learned that the owner was planning to host a wedding on the property she failed to mention that the backdrop view would be an excavator, outhouses and the grounds covered with dangerous electrical cords all over. No DANGER or WARNING signage on property when patrons and children staying there. It’s now clear of all the false promises due to needing the funding for her sons wedding. ||When we arrived she handed our child a welcome letter to give to us. She didn’t hand the letter to myself or my husband which I now realize because again she failed to mention another disappointment, the letter stated the property is going to be shown by a realtor the following day , which we agreed to have the realtor come through our cabin. The owner should have notified us prior to our arrival that we would have to have a showing done of our cabin during our stay. With everything that we have experienced at this property we can understand why the place is now been on the market for 2 years, hence the low maintenance of the grounds and the complete minimum overall to sell the place. ||My husband and I decided to end our family vacation early and depart the property because we were going to get 3 days of high 80’s low 90’s and if our 4 kids can’t swim what’s the point of staying. That was the point of the trip to have fun enjoy the lake and create everlasting memories.||When I contacted the owner at first she appreciated the feedback. The second I suggested a PARTIAL refund she turned nasty and very combative. She then stated the property was unfit for a family with children. But when booking the cabin on the phone with her she raved about how much fun our children would have at her property. It’s a shame the place could have been nice but with a sellers mindset just doing the minimum it doesn’t meet any requirements for fun family week of memories so disappointed since we don’t get the time back :(||The owner also has other properties listed under Surf Sound Cottage so...

This was our first visit to Locke Harbor and Indian Lake. There is so much to do in this area, and we took advantage of most of it! ||Locke Harbor itself was a wonderful place to stay; there are several great hiking trails close by, we were close enough to visit Fort William Henry, Fort Ticonderoga, and the "Adirondack Experience", a museum in Blue Mt Lake. Though a rowboat was included with our cabin rental, we brought our own kayaks, and got out and explored the lake almost every day. (The amount of wildlife we got to see while doing this in the early mornings and evenings was amazing! The kids couldn't believe they got to see, fairly close-up, loons, ospreys, eagles, muskrats, beavers, otters, etc.)||The best surprise of all was our cabin. Yes, there are some photos on the website, but nothing that showed how awesome they really are. We found the cabin to be a perfect balance of rustic (lots of wood and camp decor) yet with many more modern upgrades than we expected! The property is very clean and well maintained, even the fire pit with the Adirondack chairs were well positioned to enjoy the lake views while we relaxed and had campfires. We took full advantage of the dock at our cabin, (each cabin has a dock and a rowboat to themselves) as well as the sandy beach and swim float on the hot days! Locke Harbor was very family-friendly and safe. Half of the sandy beach is dedicated to easily launching your boats and kayaks, and it was safe to just leave our gear there, no having to haul stuff back and forth. We left kayaks as well as our beach toys there all week, as did other families, and everyone was respectful of each others' belongings. I suggested to the owners they add more photos to their website to thoroughly show what a beautiful property...
