This is our 2nd time camping here. We LOVE it here but this year was a bit different. We have been camping for over 20 years and have NEVER experienced the mice issue we did this past weekend. Site 54A is separated by a road from the other sites and wooded. The Fire pit grill was broken and could not be used without finding big rocks to stack on top of each other. The chipmunks and mice were WAY TO FRIENDLY. A mouse tried to crawl up my leg while roasting a marshmallow!!! The mice were crawling on our tent at night (NO FOOD IN OUR TENT ALL IN OUR CAR!!) The mice got into OUR BRAND NEW GMC ACADIA ate some of our food and tried to naw through boxes and tissues and Toilet paper and POOPED EVERYWHERE!!!! NEVER in 20+ years of camping has this ever happened to us!! We have heard the mice this year are especially aggressive and comfortable with campers. This is why we are giving it 3 stars! NO ONE wore masks in the bathrooms/showers except my husband and I despite the signs saying you must wear a mask to enter. The campsites are spacious and wooded. Clean bathrooms, showers are in a separate cabin but still clean. They were not selling firewood this year do to covid which is a bit inconvenient, closest town is Inlet, NY They were also NOT doing kayaks this year due to covid which was disappointing but one of the reasons we like coming here because you can just paddle right from the campground! The staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend but BEWARE OF MICE!!! There is plenty to explore right there at the campground whether your staying a night or a week. There are great hikes near by and great adventures and memories to be had! Enjoy!

The campsite itself was spacious, with a decent fire pit and a picnic table in good condition. The ground was covered in leaf litter, which raised some concerns about ticks. They also did not enforce the rule of 2 tents per site as our neighbors had five tents and many people at one site who were loud, but otherwise the site was pleasant and the lake was beautiful. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were a major disappointment. They were in poor condition, and there was an inappropriate carving in one of the stalls. Unlike many state campsites, there were no 988 crisis hotline stickers posted in the bathrooms. Overall, the restroom facilities are in serious need of updating. The roads throughout the campground are rough, with several large potholes that made me worry about damaging my car. Signage for parking was unclear, and one staff member I encountered was surprisingly rude. While I understand the campground’s efforts to encourage recycling, having someone monitor the garbage room and make you dig through your trash felt overly nitpicky. With some improvements—especially updating the bathrooms, fixing the roads, clarifying parking, and addressing staff attitudes—this campground could be a much more enjoyable experience.

Eight Lake is a great campground to unplug (no cell service) and unwind! My family has been camping here for over 50 years! First time camping here was when I was 10, we camped on the Eighth Lake side on campsite #29, $2 a night! 52 years later and we are still camping here! I camped with my husband and my son’s family we camped on the Seventh Lake side we were on site #117 very large site right across from the boat launch and dock, get view of the lake even from across the street. Son was on site #114 huge site right on the lake. There are not a lot of sites lakeside, but the ones that are have great access to the water. Most of the sites at the campground are large and well spaced out and very wooded. Sites are $22 a night (amazing only a $20 increase in price 52 years later)! The lakes are beautiful and the water is crystal clear and listening to the call of the loons was wonderful. Definitely recommend the hiking trail to Bug Lake, the trail head is just before the entrance to the Seventh Lake side of the campground. Great campground for getting around on your bike. The staff is super friendly! I highly recommend this campground it is so peaceful and quiet!
