We just returned from a 3 night stay at Jellystone of Western NY. Overall, it was a fun experience. But there were MANY things about it that we subpar. |The biggest issue was the cabin being dirty. By dirty I mean a giant hairball on the bathroom floor, hairs all over the headboard behind the bed, dirty floor, dirty dishes (one pot had mold or something in it), and the railing going to the loft was wobbly and practically falling off. The mattress cover wasn't removed for our stay and had stains on it and stunk. The whole cabin smelled bad, too. I ended up cleaning the whole cabin myself including mopping the floor with the steam mop I brought just in case (thank GOD I did!) Other cleanliness issues were throughout the park itself...life jackets wreaked!! I jumped in the pool afterwards just to clean off!! There was no toilet paper in the public bathroom I used. There were many issues of things being in disrepair. The railing to the pool was disconnected and falling off. There was dirt in the pool. Weeds growing in the mini golf course. The wooden playground was rotting in areas. Just a general feeling of care and pride in the entire place. ||When you rent a cabin BE FOREWARNED: the pictures on the website do NOT necessarily reflect what you'll be given!!! For example, I chose a Premium Cabin 2 Bedroom with loft. The website images depict a very modern looking interior with fireplace. I chose one and locked in the site. THAT was my mistake because the one I chose was the OLD and GROSS version of this cabin. The exterior paint was all chipping. The interior was NOT what was pictured. The whole cabin was just gross. I immediately called the desk and spoke to the manager. He was understanding and immediately offered to upgrade us to an Elite cabin with no additional fees. So that was nice. But when I mentioned the cabin was not what was pictured, he challenged me and said "Show me the pictures." Definitely gaslighting. He winked at me and said "Well the other cabin is probably more your style." We had to wait for 15-20 minutes while it was "cleaned" for us. The teenager who was cleaning had a obvious bad attitude about having to clean it. And I'm not sure exactly what he "cleaned" except mopping the floor with a dirty Swiffer mop. When we did walk in, the place was clearly NOT clean. I found someone's hairball next to the toilet. Hair all over the bedroom. Dirt everywhere. I called the manager again and had him look at it. He did acknowledge that the hair ball was not ok and took a picture. But he made a comment that "at least that was something that was obvious" as if me complaining about the previous dump of a cabin was not valid. It was a really bad introduction to this campground. But after I cleaned the cabin up, it was livable. ||The GOOD things about this campground are the wide variety of amenities and activities for the kids. The water park was a lot of fun. The pools were ok. We enjoyed the mini golf, the ponds (the pond towards the back is beautiful), fishing, and didn't even get to do everything that was available. Definitely a fun place if you have younger kids! You could literally be busy all day every day if you choose to participate in the hourly scheduled activities including crafts, wagon rides, dance parties, etc. It's pretty impressive. ||That being said, use caution when renting a cabin! I looked around at all the options available while we were there. Most of the cabins looked really nice but the ones closer to the water area must be the originals and are in extreme need of some updating and repair. Also, the location of the cabins is important. The Elite cabin we were "upgraded" to was right on the main corner where EVERYONE drives by. There's noise constantly. Every single golf cart in the place uses that particular corner. And it's right near the camper dump station. I'd definitely recommend the Villas that are to the back and side of the campground. They are on a not as frequently used road and face the woods. I know now IF we ever end up going back. But I've been to several other campgrounds where the cabins are spotless and this experience was extremely...

This resort has SERIOUSLY gone downhill and we don’t ever plan to return. We stayed 5 years ago and it was top-notch: the staff was friendly, there were numerous activities, and all buildings/grounds were in excellent and clean condition. ||||Beware if you choose to stay here: ||||1) Waterpark not working - Two days prior to our stay, we received an email saying the waterpark would be closed for the rest of the season due to mechanical issues. We were offered either a stay for next year or 50% credit towards next year; no refund of any sort. Upon arrival the woman at registration was seriously confused about these options and couldn’t figure out what half of our stay was. She said we would receive another email with our credit but that we wouldn’t see our “points” on our end. The email never came, therefore, no credit. ||||2) Horrible staff - In addition to the waterpark being shut down, the arcade had 2 working games out of about 20. When asked about getting them fixed there were eye rolls. The staff are all teenagers with awful attitudes and zero communication and social skills. My toddlers were walking up the road to the pool and a female staff member acted extremely annoyed that she had to drive her golf cart near my children who were walking on the same road. She rolled her eyes and had the most disgusted look on her face as she drove past my kids. We saw this “pleasant” teenager again as we were getting ice cream and again, she was very annoyed that there were families wanting ice cream. The teenage staff doesn't care about the teenage guests using the golf carts. There were teengaers chasing each other on golf carts and driving around playing “tag” with them. They literally ran into posts and nearly hit RVs. No parents or staff around to tell them to knock it off before someone got seriously hurt. ||||3) Gross conditions - The pool area and pool bathrooms were disgusting. Litter, algae, toilet paper, everywhere. ||||4) No activities - Just about the only activities were laser tag and the large inflatable slide. The bounce pad wasn’t blown up for some reason unknown to us. None of the bears were walking around or dressed up at all. No hay ride. NOTHING! ||||5) The cabins are missing things and broken - Our cabin was missing forks. When my husband inquired about them at registration he was told they didn’t have any! Our fridge was cool when we arrived, but the cleaning staff must have turned it off because the very next day, all of our groceries were SPOILED because the fridge was actually turned completely off. There were several broken drawers in the cabin, no working smoke detector, and no batteries for the remote control. We had to purchase batteries from the overpriced gift shop. The air conditioner in the bedroom did NOT work. ||||I would highly recommend going to Great Wolf Lodge instead. For 2 nights at Jellystone we spent $732. We spent less money at GWL and had a blast! Our experience there was NOTHING like the experience we had...

Let me just start with saying the staff that I did speak with were nice and friendly. But we stayed in cabin H1 for 2 nights when we first got there I unpacked all our things into the cabin and noticed the cabin was dirty… no big deal I can wipe the counters and clean for myself when I’m done unpacking… get the kids to their room with the two small bunk beds the “mattresses” in there are really worn and gross looking…. Okayyyy I will double up the bottom sheet…. Look at my mattress in the main room ….. huuuugeee stain on it towards the top part of the bed ….. I flipped the mattress so the stain would be at my feet and put a fitted sheet on the bed and remind myself it’s only 2 days it for the kids…… get all set up and go to turn on the ac in the bedroom.. it’s not working… go out into the living room.. that ac is also not working….. at this point I’m starting to get mad … I can absolutely not sleep without air in my room… so I call the desk they say they will send someone…… while we wait I decide to go to the porch and see how to turn on the fireplace they have out there … that doesn’t work either ……. The maintenance guy comes tells me yeah both the air conditioners are broken we will put a window unit in the kitchen…. Okay whatever I ask about the fireplace he says those don’t turn in they are not hooked up …….. I make the kids dinner we are getting ready to go down to the playground and my toddler is screaming in the kitchen pointing.. I look down and we have a baby rat. …. Not a mouse but about 2 week old baby rat I called again we wait…….. someone else comes out and puts down a bunch of mouse traps cool now I get to keep my toddler and dogs away from mouse traps with peanut butter all over them…. The next day my mom arrives and we planned to have her stay on the sleeper sofa …. But what do we find again another baby rat … so they obviously had a nest under the couch or under the stove … she left in the middle of the night bc she couldn’t sleep there thinking a rat was about to crawl across her… I did complain upon checkout … but I have received ZERO call from an actual adult or anyone for that matter regarding our stay and how terrible it was …. The cabin comes out to $290 a night and it was about $600 dollars for two nights….. We had no air conditioning .. a broken fireplace.. rats.. and a pee stained mattress the cabin was so bad one of the adults had to leave. I will never book again and I will never recommend this place to anybody… I have not posted my photos of the rats or the mattresses yet because I was assuming I would receive some customer service but if I don’t get any reply or resolve on this situation I will put my pictures up.

Cabin H1 stayed on...

We’ve been to Jellystone Park Western New York North Java twice. Once at the end of the season and once mid season. Our only complaint was at the end of the season the ice cream vendor was closed, the general store was barely stocked, the bathrooms were often very dirty, the water obstacle course was still on the back pond and closed, a strong grease trap cleaning smell was coming from the canteen and it was obvious a lot of repairs were needed. We returned the following year and everything was back up and running, clean and fully stocked. We camp with a Pop Up and had a great time. @Jellystone Park @Sun Outdoors #jellystonepark #jellystoneparkwesternnewyork #jellystoneparknorthjava #westernnewyork #northjava #campground #campgroundreview #fyp #camping #popupcamper #fyppppp

Where do I start? Upon getting there, both sites I reserved had been switched even after paying the 40 dollar site lock fee. Their camp store has nothing really except suviners. Meaning there wasn't food or things needed for your camper or tents. There is no place to get supplies. The closest is 45 minutes away. We were told there was no firewood there every day we were there. Upon arrival, we were informed that there lake bounce has been shut down due to algee bloom, and it was a lake but a small pond. The game room had 15 games, and only 5 were working. All were 6 credits, or higher was not worth it. The activities advertised ceramic painting, sand art, and candle making are difficult due to their inventory being depleted (out of stock). There sechudle staff lead activities like the rocket making the staff stands at sale counter and hands out supplies an tells you to take a pic of the directions that are hand written on a piece of paper that where very bacis. The staff didn't walk around or help at all. THE staff is all very young and unkowldgeable. Every time you asked a question, it was met with "I'm not really sure" or "I don't know" followed by a blank stare. The speed limit in the park is 5 1/2 mph. we have a video of their young boys' staff flying down the hills as fast as the golf carts would go. Speaking of which, the entire park is on complete steep down hill grade. There weren't many activities that involved the bears with the kids, we where there for 5 days and only got to interact with BooBoo bear once. We did get to see a 20 mph drive by of all of them when they were to be driving around throwing candy to kids on their site. All activities that had a prize like bingo or the fishing tournament prize was a small gross slushie. Splash pad was in disrepair, and there was no supervision or control by the young staff. DONT NOT PUT YOU HAND IN THE YOGI STATUES MOUTH at the front of the park. One of our party did an was attacked by hornets!! The day we were checking out we let the kid swim while packed up we came up an they told us there was a dead mouse in one of the pools an they had told staff about it an no one did anything. That was 30 thirty minutes before I arrived . At this point I went to the GM (General Manager) told him all my complaints every one was meet with an excuses, he's new, supplies chain issues, he's working on this an that. Which didn't change our experience. There is so much more, but Im done.

I did not understand why they would close the splash zone every hour or so to spray a small stream of sanitizer on chairs and tables that people would more than likely stay at all day. At another jellystone they just clean the chairs as people leave from them and lean the chairs so you knew they were clean. Not to mention, while everyone was waiting outside they huddled together like cattle not caring about social distancing. Only caring about being as close to the entrance as possible to get a spot back. They only sprayed the splash zone furniture not the furniture at the inflatable water park or the beach. The bathrooms are filthy! They should worry less about a small car parked in front of the pavilion, in a golf cart spot that isn’t labeled as such, and worry more about checking bathrooms hourly. The water pressure in the front bathrooms is low and the water in the back showers gets lukewarm. When we checked in we were not told the store hours and missed our chance to buy ice and wood for the night. (The jellystone we usually stay at the store stays open until 10 or 11pm, not 8). They also did not go over the process for playing on the inflatable water park. We went at 10 am and were told all the slots were full. The other campers told us their kids stood in line since 830 to get a 10 minute spot. My kids decided the wait wasn’t worth it for 10 mins of fun. Also the water zone closed at 6pm and the actual pool was closed. The water zone spray guns maybe 50% work, and that is being generous. They even had one gun that just shot out air that did nothing but literally hurt your ears. The jellystone we usually visit The pool closes at 8-9. We actually ended up leaving early because I couldn’t take the filthy bathrooms and the kids being bored. They didn’t have candy bar bingo and the T-shirts you purchase and then have to pay extra $5 to tie dye. At other jellystone parks you buy the shirt and that includes tie dye or coloring it. You can even bring your own shirt and tie dye it for $5. I was planning on writing to corporate to notify them this jellystone is a real disappointment. You may really want to sent someone out to evaluate the appropriateness of this campground using the jellystone name. I gave it 2 stars because the campsites are a decent size, even though you back up to someone else with no trees or anything for privacy. Also, my son enjoyed the bike course.
