We have been going to this campgrounds for years and when we reserved sites we got the site we reserved every time. Not once did the prior owners ever state they were not guaranteed and we book in advance with friends to ensure we get sites next to each other. When we arrived a couple weeks ago the site we booked and made a downpayment on a year ago had been given to someone else. We were going to be with next to our friends whom we share all meals with but instead we were way down the park. My husband has severe asthma so walking back and forth is a struggle. The women who checked us in argued with me that it has always been campground policy that no site is guaranteed, and that she worked with the former owners. In our 15 years of camping there not once was she ever around. Extremely disappointed and we were not the only ones having the issue that weekend. Also, there was a full hook up site available 2 down from us so our friends asked to move off their full hookup site to that to be near us and they told him all the full hookup sites were taken 🙄. If he was coming off that site to move to another then put those other people on that site if sites are not guaranteed seems plain and simple. Obviously not to them. We would have gone back in a couple weeks and we had paid in full for that weekend but again they couldn't guarantee we would remain in a site near to our friends. I asked to be considered a group so that we could be but was told because our sites were different we could not. Therefore we cancelled because obviously no matter what we asked for it did not matter. It is ashame as the park is well maintained besides someone smearing poop all over the walls in the women's bathroom. (Wonder if they were upset about not being where they paid for in advance.) When my adult daughter told the store about it she felt like they thought she did it. They also have old information posted about checkout times and costs for guests that it is very confusing and needs to be updated. For example the checkout time under the glass at the check in desk says 1 pm, the email we received about reservations said 10 am but it is actually 11am. The map outside the store says guests are $3 but coming in it is $10.
Camping here used to be amazing but if they keep doing this they will lose more campers...

We stayed in Cabin 1 during the weekend of June 21st. My partner woke up with bites all over him, that we didn't realize until after we got home were bedbug bites, and we found a bedbug on our luggage when unpacking. I contacted Junius Ponds, and they had an exterminator come who said he didn't find any "live activity", but from the paperwork, the technician seemed inexperienced and did not do a thorough investigation - just simply sprayed once (bedbugs need multiple treatments to exterminate, and you wouldn't see them "live" during the day). We had to pay to have our own exterminator come to our home for an inspection, had to purchase a steam cleaner and bedding protectors for prevention of an infestation, and my partner's bites got so bad through the week that he had to go to urgent care (where they confirmed bedbugs) and pay for meds. It has cost us $369, plus there is a potential $600 exterminator treatment should an infestation occur in our home in the coming months. I asked Junius Ponds for a refund for our stay ($216) to help off-set the financial, emotional, and psychological burden of the experience and aftermath of staying in their cabin and having bedbugs. They asked for documentation, which I provided (very thorough and detailed) on June 30th. When I followed up, they said someone would contact me by end of day on July 3rd - no one did. When I followed up again, they said someone would call me end of the week of July 9th - no one did. I have since left a phone message for the manager of Junius Ponds, and I haven't gotten a call back. I left a voicemail with the regional management company, and haven't gotten a call back. I sent another email, with no response. The management was responsive until I had the documentation to back up our claim, and now they have stopped responding to me. These empty promises with no follow through are very unprofessional, as is this situation not being rectified sooner. This shows an unhappy customer as well as this bedbugs situation is not a concern to them at all. Please be careful if you stay in these cabins - check the mattresses for signs of bedbugs, and wash all your luggage before bringing it into your home - I really don't want anyone else to have to go through...
Read moreThe only gripe i really had was that there were some miscommunications— the paper we were given at check-in had a few instructions on it concerning check in and check out. Check out was listed as 11 PM— it looked as though originally it said 1 PM and somebody penciled in another ‘1’ so it would say 11 instead. I went to ask the office about it and I was informed, at 10 AM, that checkout was actually 11 AM. This clerical error nearly cost me $30, which is the fee you will incur should you overstay. Additionally, the same paper says that the charge for late stays is $2.00 per hour, so this is also incorrect. Nowhere on the paper does it say that it is a $30 charge, so despite what the paper says, check out is 11 AM and the late check out fee is $30, not $2/hour. Moreover, I was not explicitly given all of this information upon checking in nor upon questioning the check out time. I learned of this fee from maintenance personnel, and she had an excellent disposition— very kind and sweet. I’m willing to entertain that maybe this was written in the waiver that I signed upon check in and I simply missed it as one might after driving upwards of 5 hours to get to the campground, so I think it would be helpful if in the future the paper given to guests were corrected to reflect these facts concerning check out. Another important thing to know: when you are driving around the campgrounds, do not exceed 5 MPH. You might miss the speed posting signs (in my opinion, there should be more and the speed limit should be stressed upon check-in). It makes sense as there are many children at the campground and no sidewalks. Those are three things you should know. In terms of accommodations, it’s a beautiful place to stay. The bathrooms are extremely clean, it’s very tranquil at night, and the staff is generally kind and helpful. There’s many things to do in and around the camp— there is a pool, a game room, an arcade, and backyard games such as cornhole. Definitely a wonderful place to go to unplug...
