After our first year staying at Sandy Point, our family knew that this slice of heaven in Wisconsin’s Northwoods would be our preferred destination for our yearly summer vacation. Fast forward to today, having just wrapped up our fourth year, the proprietors of this resort Mike and Michele along with Stu, have continually exceeded expectation. The attention to details and an unwavering passion to provide a immaculately maintained property with so many amenities, is a testament to their commitment to everybody that steps onto their property, no matter what walk of life they come from.
There is literally something for everyone at this resort. There is the, top 50 in the world, disc golf course, that can handle professionals, novices, and all the way down to a 5 year old just learning to enjoy this wonderful outdoor sport that Mike and Michele have dedicated so much of their lives to teaching and growing. Then there is the serenity and tranquility that is provided by the gorgeous Amber Lake which is open to any water activity that your heart desires. Boating, fishing, paddle boarding, paddle boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, playing on the beach, relaxing and enjoying the sounds of the loons, getting a glimpse of the bald eagles, or enjoying the gorgeous sunsets. One thing to note is that mosquitoes will be found as this is the Northwoods of Wisconsin, so bringing in-check expectations and some repellent has helped us mitigate them to a tolerable level and has never prevented us from enjoying all of the outdoor activities or evening campfires. The cabins have always been very well maintained and incredibly clean providing a wonderful gathering place for meals, along with indoor games and laughter on those occasional rainy days when the outdoor activities wouldn’t be as pleasant. We have also enjoyed many excellent supper clubs around the area as Sandy Point is located within close driving distance to many popular Northwoods cities and attractions.
In conclusion, our family has truly enjoyed every summer vacation to Sandy Point. Michele and Mike have always been overly gracious and their inclusive hospitality is abundant, creating an amazing resort encompassing many facets, that allow their guests to get away, enjoy the outdoors, challenge themselves on the course, or just relax. We would highly recommend this wonderful place to anyone, as our family has created lifelong memories at this resort that we will forever cherish, and look forward to creating...
Read moreThe cabins are modern, spacious and immaculate. They are tastefully decorated in a warm and inviting northwoods motif, and afford all the conveniences you are used to while away from home. The grounds are likewise spotless and the sand beach is spectacular and the perfect place to enjoy a family afternoon of fun and sun. Squaw Lake is a picturesque "up north" classic of almost 750 acres, with musky, pike, walleye, bass, and all varieties of panfish present. Get out early and enjoy an incredible sunrise, or finish the day on the water and catch a memorable sunset along with your next evening's dinner.
Give the disc golf (aka Frisbee golf ) course a try. You might get hooked on something else besides relaxing at the beach or on the water, or sitting around a roaring campfire just outside your cabin.
Mike and Michele are gracious and helpful hosts, with many years of providing guests a classic northern Wisconsin vacation. I've experienced a number of Wisconsin lake resorts over the years, and can genuinely say that Sandy Point is as good as it gets. There should be a 6 star rating for...
Read moreFavorite place in the world. Sounds like hype because it is true. I have been playing disc golf at this resort since 1995 and it is so special to me that I even proposed to my (now) wife in a Sandy Point Resort canoe while on Squaw Lake just before one of their tournaments.
As a person that's traveled to hundreds of disc golf courses around the world I always reference Sandy Point because of it's peaceful location, the fun of technical, wooded disc golf course and the beauty of 27 holes carefully created by disc golf owners and enthusiasts.
There is an extensive disc golf pro shop onsite and you'll even have a spirited debate with your friends as to which hole is really the 'signature' hole. Come to play disc golf for a day or better yet, rent a cabin for your friends or family and spend a week of relaxing, visiting Minocqua, fishing, swimming, boating and of course...
