Lewey Lake Campground offers everyone a lot. The campground is situated on Lewey Lake and has a great views of the Adirondack Mountains. It is also conveniently located by the larger and more well known Indian Lake. A range of outdoor activities are offered at the campground including fishing, swimming, kayaking, and hiking. The lake is easy to access if you want to kayak or canoe. Motor boats are allowed but the boat launch site is run down and it is very hard to launch from here. Fishing in the lake is good. A variety of fish including northern pike, bass, perch, bullhead, and panfish are native to the lake. It is best to go to the southern end of the lake near the Miami River for the best fishing. The beach at the lake is very small. There are shower and garbage disposal facilities in the campground. Occasionally, bears are a nuisance in the campground. The campground is very popular. There are 195 campsites at the campground, but they fill up quickly. Make a reservation early if you want to camp here. The campground offers much to do even if just visiting for day use. If staying in the Adirondacks...

I've been coming here on and off since the 80's. My mom brought me as a kid and i fell in love. You got a lovely lake with a rock island thats a kayak paradise (tho small motor boats are permitted) They have rentals for row boats also. Less tourists are here, more real campers/glampers. Alot of people stays for 2 weeks @ a time. It's away from everything. 20 min by car @ good speed to the closest town. No cell reception and i hope it stays that way. No worries there is an emergency phone on site, as well as a 24hr caretaker. Depending on the time of year, the black flies can be a bit much. A tip, you are equal distance from both towns near the area (Speculator south and Indian Lake north) Speculator has a real grocery store and is a tourity town, so you got lots to do but gas is expensive as its a boating town. Indian Lake has less in the way of food stores, but they have a couple well stocked country stores and cheaper gas. I would goto Indian Lake for most things, unless you wanna go where alot more people are...

I booked a site that was advertised as a 30 foot trailer site, right when I booked, I also called to verify that my 29 foot trailer would fit in this site (124) as I had never been camping at Lewey lake before. I spoke to a woman who confirmed that 124 is a 30 foot trailer site. We got there at 6:15pm on Friday (6/11/21) and went to the entrance booth to check in and there was no one there, just a sign saying to go to your site and check in later when they get back. (No time listed of when they would be back in the booth). So we went ahead to our site and knew immediately we wouldn't fit. The road is narrow and there are trees opposite the campsite. There is simply no room to maneuver a 30ft trailer into that site. We tried from every angle we could and never even got close. We went back to the entrance booth and it was still empty. There is no cell service in the campgrounds either. We ended up turning around and driving home as we had no...

Guy with the stache who works upfront is probably the friendliest campsite personnel I've ever come across. The site we stayed on was down the road from the main entrance, and the building with the showers was obviously a lot newer and better than the regular bathroom building. Very good showers with touch on and off controls. Bathrooms had updated outlets with USB connectors for charging. Only issue with the loops was the road. I don't think I've ever driven down one with more pot holes or missing pavement. That being said in a truck I had no problem driving on it and it really helped keeping campers from speeding.

I quickly fell in love with this place! I had site 84 on the water. It had its own little beach area and allows easy access for kayaking and swimming. The bathrooms and showers are VERY CLEAN and the employees keep the campground clean and welcoming. There are sites on Lewey Lake and sites on Indian Lake. No cell reception but you can get reception a few miles down the road. Sites 7-11 are more primitive with outhouses. Site 11 is huge and is right along a creek and small waterfall.
