So the check In Experience was not the greatest. The pre arrival instructions said we would be greeted and taken to the dome. After a while someone did meet us in the car park (there were no signs or any indication where we should go - so we just waited. An older gentleman did come up to us but didn’t introduce himself or say welcome or anything like that. Just asked for our name and which done we booked. We tried to exchange pleasantries but no attempt was made to have a conversation it felt very transactional. A younger gentleman then came and again not much was said. I got the impression he might not speak English. The older gentleman said to the younger gentleman they are in #4 and then the older gentleman said to us that he’d show us things. So we got on the cart and he drove us to our dome. There was no conversation along the way. No tips no history about the area. We soon arrived at our dome he helped us carry our bags in which was very nice and I was preparing to tip him but he didn’t show us anything about the dome. He just left quickly. So I didn’t rush to tip him. My heart sank a little. All the reviews spoke highly of their experience. Yet so far my experience wasn’t matching the reviews.
As we took in our surroundings we noticed several dead trees (window makers) and was concerned for our safety especially since paint had been sprayed in them indicating that someone else agreed and was marking them for them to come down.
We tried to take a walk down to the lake but the land hadn’t been cared for and we couldn’t get to it. It was clear that gravel hadn’t been put on the road yet to smooth things out and both my wife and I lost our footing (luckily we didn’t fall) on the steep driveway upto the dome. There was no steps just gravel road that was bare of gravel in areas so much so that it showed the landscaping fabric underneath.
The shower leaked. I brought it to their attention and they said someone would come out. But no one ever did.
The domes themselves was very nicely appointed and the owner really did try and think of everything and for the most part succeeded. Although there was only one comfortable chair so one of us was always jealous of the other. Half of the floor was heated. The other half was not. (Probably broken) which was a shame because having a heated floor was a really nice touch. Pillows were not comfortable and we wished we brought our own. Mattress was fine.
The outdoor furniture was excellent. The name of our cabin was called falls view but I felt duped. Not matter what angle there were no falls to view. You could only see the lake through very slender gaps in the trees and tree removal to thin them out is much needed.
Our questions were always answered promptly via text so that was good.
At the time we were there they were building 2 more domes which will make 10 in total. I think they need to either stop building or divert more resources on the care of the land. Or both. The things wrong with our stay made me either rate this a 3 star review but I opted to celebrate the good things...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning all around. This was our first time at the Catskills, and what a breathtaking experience.
Since the moment we arrived, Rigo, our driver, was SO kind and very helpful in explaining what to expect from our upcoming experience. The lift from the parking lot to our dome was super cool and a very nice touch. Not to mention, all the pickups and drop offs for all activities. Truly a luxurious experience!
As for the dome exterior, 10/10. We had access to anything we needed to cook, hangout, and play. Access to everything was also perfect since every dome was basically its own miniature property. No need to go out to dinner — grills, pots, pans, cooking utensils, and dining areas are all private and available! And CLEAN! 🧼
The interior of the dome was SOOOOO cute and intimate. Very tastefully done — from decor, lighting, and utilities. We had easy access to heat and AC which was crucial for us! The kitchen also has everything except an oven which was still great. The bathroom was very clean and had all personal care items. The dome even had slippers and robes for us!
Lastly, as for activities, we had booked time for canoeing. We were picked up and dropped off by the lake for our mini adventure! It was a smooth 2 hour ride — there was SO much to discover since the lake is humongous.
For fellow stargazers, this is the PERFECT place. Both nights we were here, we were surrounded by millions of stars. Definitely bring a telescope and a camera!
That all being said, we came here for our anniversary, and it was the best thing I could’ve asked for. We...
Read moreA girls weekend away at Domes at Catskills. I arrived at about 6:30 on Friday evening. It was still light, but the sun was fading. The tiki torches were lit outside around the firepit of my dome. I had my dog Chloe with me and I was meeting a friend for the weekend. I was the first to arrive. While I waited, I checked out my dome. Larger than I expected, and much more than I had imagined. There are 3 sitting areas inside - in front of the warm cozy fireplace, the dining area, and the reading nook. And a sleeping area with a queen sized bed and plenty of space to unpack your clothing. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you can imagine. The décor is amazing - you can tell a lot of effort was put into picking out every piece of furniture and every light fixture, along with the finishing touches. Saturday morning came and we went outside to investigate our surroundings. We went for a walk around the grounds where we saw some very interesting art sculptures. We walked along Swan Lake - quiet and peaceful. We spent the afternoon at the firepit, which was fully stocked with wood, fire starters and a lighter, with Adirondack chairs all around. We had snacks and drinks, just enjoying the sunshine and fresh air, while talking and laughing. My friend had to leave early Sunday morning, but I really didn't want to leave. I stayed for an extra 2 hours, snuggled up in the reading nook with my book while Chloe lay at my feet after her morning walk. It is the perfect place for a girls weekend getaway. I plan on coming back in the...
