I'm not sure how to rate this. We had fun, but I think it was more our kids enjoying the kids equipment and us relaxing. We had a site RIGHT by the jumping pillow thing. The kids enjoyed playing on the playgrounds on site. With that said, a lot is really run down. The playground by the wagons was the worst. Usable, yes, but really could use some updates. The arcade area had maybe half the games working and the change machine was inoperable. All the trash (popped balloons) by the jumping pillow should really be picked up. It looked dumpy, not to mention unsafe for toddlers or dogs that may put them in their mouths. There was also garbage on the ground (bottle caps etc). I understand its just common decency for people to pick up their own trash, however, campground staff should be cleaning up a well. The dog run area was nice. And it's a really beautiful location (tall pines etc). Golf carts drive way too fast as well. Our 2nd night someone took their lit up (LED lights) golf cart and SUPER loud bass rap music and parked it by the jumping pillow and just left it there on full blast at 830pm while they were jumping. Oir kids were sleeping in the camper and we were trying to relax. I was THAT person that called the office and I WAS impressed that the young lady who answered immediately responded herself and was out there in less than 5 minutes telling them to turn it off. That was appreciated. The biggest thing that got me and why the lower review was the giant shopping cart. 1) it's EXTREMELY loud and terrified our toddler for the rest of the day. 2) it is EXTREMELY dangerous. It's flew by very fast multiple times between our site and the children's play area. I can't believe it is allowed to go that fast right by the children's play area. If a child darted out it would be disastrous. And 3) I work in insurance and I cannot fathom how that isn't a liability issue and how that is even allowed at the campground.

If I had to summerize my points:

PROS: -Nice dog run -beautiful location -one nice kids park and also a nice jumping pillow -fast acting staff when called for a noise disturbance

CONS: -run down/dirty/trash on ground -fast golf carts (unmonitored speed) -EXTREMELY dangerous (giant shopping cart and location of usage) -partially inoperable arcade -disrespectful campers (not the campsites issue, but should weed those folks out that can't be respectful and quiet)

Probably won't return...

I came to the campground with several other families and my own to enjoy a weekend in the sun. My friend and I both rented a rustic cabin and our other friends purchased the higher tiered cabins. We had to go down to the office three times to get the right key and upon opening our door, we were disappointed in the cleanliness and mustiness of our cabin. I’m fully aware of what rustic means, but I expect to at least come into a clean, sanitized cabin. Since two of our families were without bathrooms, our other friends were gracious enough to let us use theirs. When it came time to use the bath house for showers, we literally could not shower. We pumped money (yes, you paid for the showers) into the machines and barely a trickle. Once again, luckily our other friends had showers that we eventually used. We cooked at our friend’s cabins and lost power multiple times, trying to cook in the dark. Eventually the power came back on, but it happened a handful of times. The other family in the rustic cabin expressed they threw out food, because of ants and after returning from our cook out, their cabin was covered in ants. They had to leave in the middle of the night, because they could not sleep in their cabin. We were put out, because we were supposed to enjoy the end of our weekend celebrating with our friends on the beach, instead the rest of us went home in the morning. We enjoyed the kids’ activities and amenities, but three out of the four cabins we rented were disappointing to say the least. I hate to leave negative reviews, or complain over trivial stuff, but the campground didn’t really remedy any of our complaints, aside from that they’d look into all of the issues. I know businesses are struggling and Covid has impacted small business owners tremendously, but we did pay a decent sum to walk away with a pretty sour taste in our mouths. For the price, I think I’d pick a different camp site. That’s my honest, constructive criticism. I hope it helps anyone looking into this spot and the...

I loved the site as it was right next to a playground for the kids and near a restroom as I had a pop up. This is a second generation visit, as I brought my grand-daughter up for the weekend with some friends. I visited the campground frequently with my two sons as we had a camper when they were younger. Back then the staff was much older, this past weekend we only had one staff member that was 18 and older. With that said we were not able to get mixed blender drinks like they advertised. Most of the stuff we and others wanted they said "we must be out of that." I get it, its the end of the season but then give discounted rates. When I took my boys they had life jackets to use, I was told due to being sued because a parent put one on their kid that was too big they no longer offer them. They told me to go to store to buy one, (not that I didn't have any at home), however I went to store and they did not have any that were for 50 pounds and above. So my grand-daughter who was over 50 pounds at age 7 was unable to go out and enjoy the pond. ||||It was a Halloween weekend, that for the most part was real good. The haunted forest was the best $5 I spent all weekend. ||||I would go back again, however I will call before to make sure they are not "out of everything." Also we did pumpkin painting, the pumpkins were super tiny which we paid $1 ok big deal! However, the girl in charge was sitting on her golf cart drinking a "non alcoholic" bloody Mary (as she said it was) and wasn't helping the kids or adults with the painting and handing out supplies. I did finally meet the new owner the night of the haunted trail as it is on his personal property and did discuss some of my concerns. Hopefully, next time it will be a better visit as we love Smokey Hollow and want to continue coming. ||||The bathrooms were kept up nicely until Sunday morning I assume they were waiting for everyone to go home to clean but they were filthy...

First time there, and coming back for sure. It is a hidden gem!! Definitely worth it, specially talking about the price versus all that the place provides. Place is extremely well maintained, a lot of activities to do with the family, cabins are 10 out of 10 from being comfortable, spacious, and in great condition, to sparkling cleanliness. Staff was bwyind amazing!! Always super helpful, great service, always smiling, nice, going the extra mile to help in everything, but the best is they make you feel welcomed and at home. Pond is great, is man-made, really well maintained, no weird water smell compared to others. Even though we read directions about not having a life jacket available, we didn't bring it. So if you don't know how to swim really, really good like some of us bring life jackets for everybody. You can enjoy the pond inflatables to the fullest once you have them, since it can get really deep(around 15 feet in the middle). The only things is that wifi is a little tricky, specially for the areas more far away from the center of the campground. I didn't minded too much, at the end of day we are in a campground. I went there during the week and it was quiet, and plenty space to do everything, According to staff and other people, weekend is louder, and pretty full. If you decide to camping, this is the place recommend it 1000 %. Thanks to all the staff for making the stay like home.

I had no idea what had been booked, just knew we'd be camping. Holy cow! This place has everything! An amazing, weird, bouncy balloon type thing in the ground, volleyball court, swimming hole w/ tons of toys and inflatables as well as little light up palm trees, lovely paved roads to walk or drive on, so much fun stuff for kids, great bathrooms (except you have to pay for a shower), quiet at night, beautiful big trees, yurts, tiny cabins, larger cabins, fossil hunts, dunk tanks, and so much more. This would have been a dream as a kid! I want to go back when it isn't so packed with people and a bit less hot. We only stayed one night but it was pretty nice. I have to say I did notice sewage smell a lot but haven't ever really stayed anywhere around that many RVs, so thought that might be it. Also noticed that the inflatables in the water were not inflated well or taken good care of, which seems odd for the beginning of the season. We got there about 7p and the office and fire wood were locked up so we had to drive about 7 miles away to find some after trying two closer gas stations. It also appeared that they nickel and dime people for all of the little attractions they have there. Which is a bummer. I could see how, once it was super full of kids, that wouldn't be a fun place to be if you were trying to relax and have a good time as an adult.

We had a great visit and the kids had a blast but PM99 cabin had no curtains. Lots of holes in the wood trim where curtain rods or blinds used to be, I suspect. We had to use paper towels and painters tape to give our bedroom any privacy. The photos on the website need updating and maybe a note in listing that states we should bring our own curtains. Light bulbs in the island didn’t work and one in the bedroom too. All the signs around the park model have lots of caps letters and exclamation points. I understand folks don’t know how to follow instructions, but it’s a bit aggressive in nature. The swings in the parks could use some WD40 and everything could use a power wash, including any of the wood at the park that’s paint chipped needs repainting. There’s a rocking duck on a spring that looks like it’s from the 70’s. Totally fine but it’s loose in the front so it has a “kick” to it that my almost 2yo was not anticipating. The sound on the TV in PM99 probably has a limit control because everything we played was so quiet. There are surround sound speakers around the unit that we couldn’t figure out how to turn on or get working. It would likely make the low sound level on the TV worth it if we could get that working. Also the sound on the TV in PM98 wouldn’t work either. We are pretty tech savvy so I’m not sure what’s up there.
