Just had our second stay. Just as lovely as the first. Tanya and Cale are wonderful hosts. We stayed in the cottage this time. Two queen beds and a kitchen area including a kitchen table and chairs. As expected, decorated as nicely as the cabin. Cozy but not over done. (I loved the cow picture outside the bathroom). We can’t wait to venture that way again this fall to enjoy the grandeur of the autumn colors. Thank you Tanya and Cale for a great time. See you soon. Gracie.
We are heading home after a wonderful stay at the Sandstone Rustic Retreat. As lovely as the pictures are online the real thing blew us away. A perfect balance between rustic charm and functionality. Impeccably clean and well kept. The gathering room is comfy with soft lighting. The back bar with it natural wood tones meld seamlessly with the updates, feeling that it space was always as it is now. Our cabin was beautiful. Charming without being cutesy. Crisp white bedding and comfortable mattress made for two good night’s rest. Kohler fixtures and faucets lent to an upscale feel. It was very obvious the Tanya and Cale put a great amount of thought and consideration into each detail. Cale and Tanya took us on a boat tour on the river. Cale grew up in the Wisconsin Dells and gave a delightful tour. He shared interesting facts of the area melded with personal recounts of his youth. By no means a scripted recital of a commercial tour guild, rather stories and facts grown from pride of the area. There is a covered outdoor spot with comfortable high back benches. We sat there while it rain. So soothing. There is a huge pine tree in which this seating area is built around. I like to think the tree allows us to share its space. My boyfriend and I brought our dog with us. Gracie hiked through the woods with us as well. She enjoyed the boat ride too. Sandstone is a short drive away from the busy streets and sidewalks of downtown Wisconsin Dells. We dined there twice. Enjoying the tourist experience then a short ride back to the quiet of the woods. Truly a retreat. My boyfriend, Gracie and I say thank you for a wonderful three day two night stay. We can’t wait to come back to enjoy the natural splendors offer by Wisconsin and it’s changing seasons. Tanya and Cale are meant to be running this business. I look forward to our next visit to see how there little piece of heaven...
Read moreWoW! This place was a fantastic getaway for my lady and I. We wanted a getaway that was close to the Dells but far enough away that there was peace and quiet. We didn't want noisy hotel rooms with doors slamming, kids being loud in the hallways, etc. I love kids but "mom and dad" deserve some quiet time too, right? lol.....😉 Anyway, this place is ideally located at only about 2-3 miles from the Dells Attractions. Our hosts Cale and Tonya were very accommodating. They were both great to speak with and their place was VERY clean, cozy, and comfortable. It's nice to know that Cale is a military Vet. His service in the military is very much appreciated and we love supporting businesses that are part, or in whole, veteran owned!! We are already planning our winter getaway there to stay again and hit the slopes at a nearby ski hill. Summertime will be a blast there as well. With a short walk down to the water, we plan on boating the river to see all the breath taking rock formations that the Dells are known for, and to also just relax and chill out among all the beauty around us! This is a must stay at place, and giving it the highest 5 stars is still not enough! Thanks again Cale and Tonya, we'll see you both again, hopefully sooner than later !!-...
Read moreGreat reconnect to nature and each other! Sandstone is locally owned and a small property with 4 cabins, 1 cottage, and 4 Glamping Domes. They have a pier right on the River where my fiancé and I enjoyed lovely coffee in the morning just listening to the birds. The cabin was very well appointed and quiet. There is a central Gathering House with gourmet coffee included for guests, a great outdoor covered patio space and lots of games set up near a fire pit for a few people. Massive waterpark hotels of the Dells this is not, thank goodness! If you love the natural beauty of the Dells and are looking for a quieter way to reconnect with your loved ones...this is your place! We loved how personal the property was and how it is set up for a retreat (they host events and weddings). They also rent Kayaks, which we did and enjoyed a morning paddling on the Wisconsin River with the cranes and the peace of the quiet morning. The proximity to the Dells was handy as we drove in for a special dinner (only a few minutes) and yet felt worlds away from that mayhem. This place is such a gem for the area and reminded me of why I've always loved the nature of the Dells in the...
