Word of advice : YOU HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO MAKE MONEY! You have a beautiful property filled with American Pride and History with strong structural bones and family stories to share, yet none of that is presentable. My husband and I had booked Thursday August 14 through Monday August 18, 2025 with you in suite 136. However, we checked in regrettably, the 18th and IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED the remainder of our stay. Your Foyer: Use different cleaner, it has a dirty kitchen drain, chlorine and chemical smell. Try a salt water treatment in your indoor pool. Lighten up the ambiance. Get the cheap string of lights out of the plant in the corner, clean out the curio cabinet with the beaded shells and mismatched knick knacks. Replace them with artifacts from around the area or even art pieces from the surrounding local artists and SPAC students. Place the black and white old pictures of President Roosevelt and former families in time appropriate frames and display them within the foyer, creating a family, cozy welcome. YOUR GROUNDS: HIRE A PROFESSIONAL LANDSCAPER! Clean up your pool area, either close it all together and repurpose the area make it a picnic area with a fire pit and umbrellas or a mini golf and big lawn game area; connect four boards, corn hole etc . Plant some perennials with color and maintain your front around your sign with welcoming colorful flowers. Your "Lawn view " is pathetic! Create a cozy space in that gazebo area. Plant colorful flowers, string patio lights, get a fire pit and some tables, make it inviting not frightful. Do something with your balconies they look like cheap, chipboard , rotted dog kennels ,not at all some place to sit. Clean them up with code approved railings and place a small patio table and two chairs on each. Maintenance your grounds to create peaceful groomed walking paths with meditation stations and or places to picnic. Tie it into your health spa as a way to promote business. THE ROOMS: HIRE A PROFESSIONAL INTERIOR DESIGNER! It is one thing to be dated and nostalgic, however, yours are dated and cheap. Remove the rugs, heavy curtains and all the mismatched lamps, sofas and chairs. Have your staff on check in dates go through and freshen the room , turn on the air. Ours was definitely closed up for awhile as it was stale, hot, humid and conjugated feeling not to mention there was at least 1/2 inch of dust everywhere. HIRE A PROFESSIONAL PLUMBER Replace ALL FIXTURES with modern ones. Plastic Walmart shower heads with brown hard water build up on it and rusted bath drains and jets GROSS! In each room place a welcoming basket with a coupon to your spa, the restaurant next door and maybe to a venue in town, promote business for eachother. Put some bottles of water and a complimentary item from the in house spa to use such as soaking salts or a face mask . Offer a shuttle to town, the race track and...
Read moreThis was an absolutely disgusting hotel. Stains all over the bed spread , curly hair on the counter in the bathroom. Old smelly dirty wall to wall carpetting. . No picture on their website Is anything like this hotel. Photos are obviously taken when the place was what looks like quite nice. False advertising all lies. Our Back deck looked like you would fall through if you went on it. Back deck Door did not lock so anybody could come in if they wanted to. Noticing all this upon arrival we had no choice to stay because there were no other hotel options as we were in town for a show and time was tight. When we arrived back to our room after the show it was very late and we decided to use the bath. The final straw with this place was THE BATH WATER CAME OUT BROWN FOR MINUTES!!!!! It was so late we just went to bed and did not use any water in the hotel after. When we talked to management about it in the morning he said you stayed the night right? We took video of the brown water and showed it to management who insisted the brown water was simply special mineral water from Saratoga Springs!!!!! Needless to stay we got out of there first thing and declined the free breakfast. $400 a night and you can't even use the water safely. Do not stay at this place. Reporting all of this to NY State board of health, better business bureau and anyone else who might be able to stop these people from running a complete and very hazardous sham of a business.
The response below from the hotel manager, seems to be a typical response. Assuming AI is answering these if you read through multiple reviews, they're all the same and obviously they're not doing anything about their...
Read moreThe rooms were affordable; staff was decent and outside was well-kept. That's where our good experience ended.
The room was dated and dirty. There were stains on every wall, surface, furniture and bedding. The walls were sticky and the building/room had an odor of sweat and body odor. The refrigerator had mold growing inside it. We didn't feel comfortable sitting on any surface. Since we would only be sleeping in the room, we were going to stick it out, even though we were grossed out... until I went to take a shower that evening. There was hair all over the shower and when I turned the water on, the water was dark brown and had an awful smell.
We booked the room for 2 nights, and if it wasn't 9PM at night after traveling a few hours with young kids, we would have left right then. Unfortunately, we didn't have a choice but to stick it out for the night. I immediately booked another hotel for the next night. We packed up first thing in the morning.
While I didn't specifically ask for a refund, I did share that our experience was less than acceptable and that we were choosing not to stay a second night, it was as if the front desk did not care. They asked no further questions or offered any kind apology or refund. I'm disappointed. I'm not one to write bad reviews or make a fuss, but I felt that these issues should be communicated and hopefully addressed for future guests. I do understand the benefits of offering affordable accommodations, but this was not worth it in our opinion. I would have gladly paid double (and did)...
