Potentially a very cool place! I loved the access to nature. I also absolutely loved the fact that the campground appears to be frequented by the LGBTQ community. Being an ally-I am cognizant that in rural Wisconsin- this place must be very special for this community as there were mostly gay men in the sites around me. Being clothing optional must add another degree of freedom for those that are repressed by our society.
Being a Black man who loves nature-I am always reminded that tolerance is often missing in rural settings. I have faced years of discrimination and indifference at so many campgrounds throughout Wisconsin. The other campers appeared to be friendly -with plenty of waves.
My only critique is pointed at a couple of the other campers there. Tent sites are very close together which is great for groups that want to socialize but not so much for my attempt at meditation. I had the great misfortune of being place next to a couple of babble-mouth men -that as they drank more-they began to talk louder (why do people do this?). I was kept awake most of the night be their loud yakking. My tent was unfortunately less than 30 feet from theirs and I was privy to long winded-passive aggressive arguments about the state of the world. Now here's the thing- I could of asked them to shut the F...-up but I am always leery to expect courtesy from drunk dudes and being a straight cis gender man-I felt like I was invading their scene.
On the spur of the moment-I really wanted a quiet place a short drive from Madison. I would hope to someday return but I will be sure to ask for a site that will ensure the best...
Read moreThis is cute!🤩 It's literally right on a mountaintop! The owner is a wonderful host and really likes meeting people and sharing his property.😃 As I've said before with the previous ones🌈 they all have their individual charm and character🎭
Some of the sites have a magnificent view. Especially the huge park model cabins. These are the largest cabins I've seen in any campground of this type 😱
Also this campground has the nicest and best maintained tent ⛺ sites I've ever seen!👀. They all have picnic tables in excellent condition. They all have firewood already stacked up and covered from the weather, and fire 🔥 rings. They are all situated at the top of the hill and some have excellent views. There's even one with a swing overlooking the valley! 😱👀 And portable toilets so you don't have to walk down the hill to the bathroom in the middle of the night 😉 The bathrooms are very clean, There are two of them with two coin operated 🪙 showers🚿 in each one.
There aren't any amenities here yet, but a few of the permanent seasonal residents do have hot tubs🥵. There isn't a private area building in the woods 🤫, or swimming pool or toy store or office. The sites do have electric and water but there is no sewer or dump 💩station here. They do have a pump out service ⤴️ and a food truck and party pavilion for special events.🎉
A fun weekend🥳 with nice people and a beautiful place to stay at the top of...
Read moreThis review is long over due from last summer however it needs to be said; Once upon a time I accidentally booked Cedar Hills being a "clothing optional"/nude campground for my boyfriend's birthday celebration and did not realize it until we arrived. To our pleasant surprise, this was the best camping trip our group has ever had. Dennis was beyond hospitable and offered us free firewood and ice given my boyfriend was a military veteran; he even came around at night to blow off fireworks for us to help us celebrate his birthday! No campground that we have ever stayed at treated us quite like Dennis did; in fact we had such a terrible time at a different campground it inspired me to write this long over due review today from our trip at Cedar Hills. We decided to keep our clothes on and the other campers who partook in the nudity kept to themselves, it truly didn't bother us one bit. As a group of people in our late 20s this was the perfect campground for us; Cedar Hills will always be our #1 pick! We can't wait to return this...
