Stoffel's Shady Oaks Resort — Hotel in Town of Meenon

We made Stoeffel's Shady Oaks our family vacation week destination two years in a row. Tom and Sharon are the best hosts you could ask for. The cabins are clean, cozy and everything worked perfectly. But we didn't stay inside much. The weather was great for swimming, fishing and boating so we spent almost all of our time outdoors. The Clam flowage always produces fish whether right from the dock, out on the either lake or on the river. Shady Oaks has excellent docking and a clean sandy swimming area. There is plenty of room on the lake for both fisherman and speed boaters.||We really like how close the resort is to Big Mikes bait, tackle and convenience store as we stopped in there a lot for what we needed for a day on the water. In 2013 we were here for the 4th of July, Siren does that holiday up great with a boat parade on Crooked Lake and a Community concert before the fireworks. During the week it is nice and quiet on the Clam. We also took advantage of some of the nearby attractions. We kayak paddled the St Croix river to the north for a great day trip, and enjoyed another morning at Big Manitou Falls which is an easy drive of less than an hour.||Having both lived and vacationed several places in the Northwoods I confidently recommend Shady Oaks for an enjoyable, hassle-free, on-the-quiet-side, family vacation...

Didn't stay here but rented one of Tom & Sharon Stoffels motor boats that were docked right on the lake to cruise around lower and upper Clam Lakes which are connected underneath the highway. The price was very affordable at only around $175/day. Tom and Sharon were so kind and accommodating and fun to talk to and their boat was perfect for our family of 7 and had plenty of power and we could've easily water ski'd or pulled a tube behind but we didn't have those accessories so we just explored. The grounds of the Stoffel's Shady Oaks Resort was magical and beautiful! I can't recommend renting a motor boat or pontoon from the Stoffel's enough. And if we didn't already have a VRBO rented we would have been happy to stay at their resort but didn't know anything about this resort until we asked around town for boat rentals and were...

The hospitality was fantastic - Tom and Sharon are very outgoing, friendly, and accommodating! Great hosts!

The cabin I stayed in was perfect for me (by myself this trip).

And the fishing was the best I have experienced over all of the 50 years (off and on) that I have fished Clam Lake. The 40-inch, 20-pound Northern Pike I caught the first morning was the biggest that I ever caught there. Overall the Northerns were bigger on average than ever. And while mainly fishing for Northern, 1/3 of the fish caught were Bass, and some nice ones at that. It is just one indication that the lakes are on the mend after the Carp disaster a number of years back.
