Rustic Ridge Log Cabins — Hotel in Town of Merrimac

I'll start off by saying that my review is not of the actual cabins or amenities provided by Rustic Ridge. This review is in regards to Rustic Ridge's customer service (or lack-thereof) and, specifically, my interactions with Ron Silverthorn. ||||I booked my reservation with Rustic Ridge for February 9-11, 2018 as a nice Valentine's getaway with my girlfriend. I booked several months in advance and paid a 50% deposit. Two days prior to our trip, I informed Ron that a very large snowstorm was headed toward Chicago (largest storm since 2015), with a forecast of 10+ inches of snow hitting on the Friday that we would be driving up to the cabin. I requested that given the circumstances, if he could please cancel my reservation and not charge me the remaining 50%. He promptly refused and informed me that they would only be getting 1-3in of snow where they were so it wasn't a big deal...completely ignoring the fact that we would have to drive in dangerous conditions to get to the cabin. I then requested if we could at least change my reservation to a different weekend and not have re-pay, which was also denied with a response of "We cannot run a business based on weather." Which is fine, but I would say they also have a right and should run a business based on good customer service and sympathize with their customers during extraordinary circumstances.||||At the end of the day, Rustic Ridge has the right to enforce whatever cancellation policies they want. But I am also going to exercise my right of informing the public of their poor...

My wife a little "getaway" weekend and we absolutely loved this cabin!

It sits in a circle of about 4 cabins which are perfectly situated to give enough privacy so one is not on top of your neighbors. We could see Devil's Head Resort ski area through the trees, which was fun, (although we didn't ski).

Our cabin was very tastefully decorated with "red" being the main color scheme. The gas fireplace was very cozy and it actually provided a pleasant warmth and atmosphere. We enjoyed the Christmas decorations and tree.

The 2 person hot tub/jacuzzi was very relaxing although some handles on the wall might be helpful in getting in and out. The view out the window added to the relaxing mood. The tub sits on the second floor, up some stairs.

Our host was amazing. Konda responded quickly by email and phone when making arrangements and was worked with us on our later arrival. She was perfectly available without interrupting a lovely weekend.

We enjoyed exploring Baraboo/Wisconsin Dells, which are a short drive away, through the beautiful hills and ridges of central WI.

With COVID 19 plaguing our nation, my family was looking for a "Socially Distanced" vacation this summer. Devil's Lake was recommended by a co-worker of mine as a great place to check out. Once we settled on the area, I stumbled upon "Rustic Ridge Log Cabins" - Konda was nothing short of amazing as a host. She promptly answered all of my questions prior to our stay and got us settled in the perfect sized cabin. When she checked us in she gave us her personal cell phone number in case we needed anything while we were staying at Rustic Ridge. Our cabin was very clean and had great amenities. We were able to store our kayaks under the covered porch and had more than enough room to spread out and relax over the long weekend. Everything within the cabin was top of the line from the Weber Grill on the deck to the Cuisinart Coffee Maker to the Smart TV in the living room. The cabin was a great place to come back to after fun filled days of Kayaking, Hiking, Swimming at the beach, and shopping at the local shops in Barraboo.
