We stayed at the Breezy Hill Inn for three days, for a skiing trip. I was really looking forward to our stay, but I came away rather disappointed. (Afterwards, I read all the 2-star and 3-star reviews again, and found that they exactly match our experience there.) We rented the suite (at $300/night after tax), which is very spacious for a family with two children; the main bed is very comfortable, but the sofa bed is old and creaky and unpleasant to sleep on. (It was okay for the kids, but I tried it during the third night, and hardly got any sleep at all.) The breakfast was on the small side: a very small fruit cup, a small gluten-free muffin, a small glass of orange juice, one kind of jam on a plate; then an omelette and one slice of toast. Tea is from tea bags, hot chocolate the cheap powdered stuff. The waffles on the second day tasted like cardboard. Better than at a Holiday Inn for sure, but not the sort of breakfast one expects at a nice B&B. On the third day, they offered me a second baked egg, presumably because one was left over, but on the other two days, I got up hungry. My daughter did not like the muffin or the omelette, and it would have been nice if they had offered her something else, but they didn't. ||The inn itself looks great, with lots of wood. Despite extremely cold weather, the rooms were comfortably warm. In the basement, there is a pool table and some board games, a sort of gym, and a very nice steam room. (I loved that in the evening after skiing.) In general, I would describe the atmosphere at the inn as cool, definitely not welcoming. I had a pleasant conversation with Alan, but Michelle seemed somewhat gruff. You have to ask for everything, and are made to feel like a nuisance. On the first evening, Michelle asked about breakfast; I suggested 7am, but that was too early, and so it ended up being 8am; convenient for the innkeepers, no doubt, but the kids got to their ski lesson 10 minutes late. On the last day, after breakfast, I asked about the check-out time and was told 11am, but the implication was that earlier would be better, because otherwise the cleaning staff would have to come back. It's not hospitality if you put your own convenience over that of your guests. ||I was hoping that this would be a place that we can come back to every year for our skiing trip, and feel at home -- like the kind of B&B that we used to stay at when I was a child --...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I decided to take a last minute trip to the Catskills on Memorial Day weekend, so we decided to have our first bed and breakfast experience. As you can imagine, everything in the area was booked , but then I came across Breezy Hill Inn on the map and decided to give it a shot. Right away Michelle answered my call and I explained to her the nature of our last minute trip. Within minutes I was confirming our stay at Breezy Hill, Michelle made the booking process very simple and easy.
We arrived Friday evening and right away fell in love with Michelle and Alan's property. A tree lined road winds up the side of the hill from the town below and leads up to an open face of the hill where their property sits looking out into a valley; it's picture perfect.
We were warmly greeted by Michelle and Alan and accommodated in the Blue Room, which looks out towards the front of the property and a valley, it also has its own private bathroom (big plus!). From the start, Michelle and Alan were super helpful! They knew it was our first time in the area and catered all of their suggestions to our interests for the weekend (drinking, eating, relaxing and playing golf), and their suggestions did not disappoint one bit!
The best part about our stay, besides the super comfy bed, amazing innkeepers + staff, and spectacular views, was the breakfast served every morning! Our days at Breezy Hill began with a delicious breakfast, served fresh, on the porch looking out towards the valley; its was just the kind of thing we needed to start off our day. The other thing that was really nice was coming back to a clean and quiet space after a long day out. Even though we only rented a room, the house was big enough to make you feel like you had the whole thing to yourself!
We are looking forward to our next stay here and looking forward to seeing Michelle and Alan. I highly recommend this location for anyone in need of a quiet and peaceful weekend away...
Read moreCan't say enough about the wonderful time we had 10/3/25-10/6/25 at Breezy Hill Inn. First off, the house is amazing. Lovingly restored 1900 farmhouse. The owners pulled out all the stops to bring this home to it's original beauty. The front porch is HUGE and the views spectacular. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The inn keepers, Alan & Michelle, could not have been more accommodating. They were very friendly and a wealth of information on local things to do and see and were interesting people to talk with. The breakfasts were all delicious and well presented. Our first stop was the Phoenicia Diner, very good food and outdoor seating was awesome. Then we went to Woodstock. Quaint town with lots of stores and places to drink and eat, recommend checking it out. Bought some wine and retired to the gorgeous front porch of the Breezy Hill Inn and relaxed while enjoing a wonderful view. Spent some time in the steam room at Breezy Hill Inn, shot some pool and relaxed, it was wonderful. We hit Schoharie, nice town and enjoyed the Night Terrors haunted attraction on a family owned farm. We hit downtown Phoenicia which was small but nice. We went to Saugerties and poked around, another nice little town. We rode the tracks with Rail Explorer, highly recommemd this and the rail museum. Went to the Fall Festival at Belleayre Mountain which was wonderful. All in all, it was a great weekend spent at an outstanding B&B with awesome inn keepers...
