What a horror! Carol -- she goes by the "Cauliflower Queen" on other sites and lashes out at anyone who dares criticize her dated accommodations -- is so nasty you'd think she was a character in a bad indie movie. She's very real. And she will ruin your vacation if you dare cross her. The other reviews on Yelp, Trip Adviser, and Google that mention her are indeed true. So if you consider staying at any one of her locations -- the Margaretville Village Suites, the Motel, or the Margaretville Mountain Inn Bed & Breakfast -- know that it's a big risk. You better not complain about a frozen Jacuzzi, a cold building, a broken fireplace, a dirty bathroom, or a sparking extension cord (all part of our experience at the Suites) without cover from Carol. She'll call your request "disgusting," tell you to "get off my property," and misrepresent facts. When her website posts incorrect pricing, she considers honoring her offer a "discount" and feels no need to provide adequate services. (Note: When asked who caused the $25 discrepancy, she scolds "I'm not telling you that." I.e., it's your fault Carol!) At the end of the day, you're going for a vacation, right? Not the inevitable call to your credit card company to contest charges and all the grief that comes with it. The mediocrity of, at least, the Village Suites, do not make up for big, bad, Cauliflower Queen Carol.

The inn is a short and lovely drive out of Margaretville. It sits on a hill and the front views are lovely. They serve a nice breakfast in the morning. There is always eggs however you like them, toast and bacon. In addition there was French toast one day and another day waffles. Orange juice, tea and coffee. To start you off one morning we had pumpkin bread served warm, the next we had blueberry crumb both delicious! We had the suite two beds in one room, sleeps three and the other room sleeps two and the bathroom. There is a TV in that room. The suite was on the first floor. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of bedding for those cooler nights. In the common area there were two couches, a chair and two hassocks to sit on. The older table lights were gorgeous. There is a coffee maker in there with teas and instant coffee. Mugs and disposable cups, games, microwave, utensils, books, magazines, small fridge. There is a huge front porch with wicker furniture, though it was not warm enough for us to enjoy. We enjoyed talking to Carol and we're so happy to have had the chance to meet her. Lots to do up there.

My husband and I ski every Jan thru March at Belleayre Mt. We plan on staying at the Margaretville Mt Inn every Mon thru Wed night each week. We divide our time between Belleayre and Gore Mt so are not there every week. We have done this for more than 10 years. There is no place else we would rather stay. We love Carole, the owner and Inn Keeper. She sets a lovely breakfast table and provides us with a cooked breakfast of our choice. She always bakes something special. We love the old Victorian style and décor. We have always enjoyed visiting in the cozy common area or at breakfast with the other guests of the Inn. Because we come only during midweek times, we often bring our own easily heated dinner. Carole provides a frig, microwave, coffee pot and paper plates and utensils for those that wish to do as we do. It is a bit difficult to find restaurants that are open during the mid-week time slot. The skiing is wonderful at Belleayre. They do an excellent job of making snow and of grooming their trails. | We will continue our long time practice of enjoying our time off the slopes at the Margaretville Mountain Inn. We consider this our home away from home.| Thank you, Carole,|Bart and...

Very comfortable and nicely decorated B&B. We had the suite on the first floor with a comfortable and moderately clean atmosphere. Don't expect big TVs and lots of snack bars and vending machines, but our rooms had one small TV if needed. Amenities such as WiFi and breakfast were included (the french toast was outstanding!). Some bathrooms were slightly separated from the room it was with, but they were all only used by the guests in the adjoining room. Towels were clean, included was some shampoo, soap and cups.

Our experience with the owner was good - she seemed friendly and nothing nasty like other reviews had stated. While I'm not here to doubt the legitimacy of others' experiences, we had no problem at all. Cookies were left out with some wine options to pull you through with some snacks until dinner, where you'll have to head into Margaretville.

The inn is definitely old, but decently well kept up. We never saw any signs of it's age except for the plaque outside telling us. Quaint place with a down to earth attitude that makes you feel very comfortable, at least from our background.

If you like bed and breakfasts along with victorian decorating and beautiful scenery, I'd absolutely...
