Upon check-in, staying a Mon-Thurs weeknight, the girl at the desk had zero knowledge about the choice rewards program or the 'bonus gift' selction for staying such a weeknight (that I'd been emailed about, but couldn't get the links to work). The bathroom ceiling corners were loaded with black mold, and we had to have a crew in on Day 2 to clean it. On Day 3, no one set foot in our room to fix the beds, replace used towels, or replace toilet paper and tissue. We arrived back in the evening, to drive and walk through hotel management and staff breaking up a fight in the rear parking lot, only to find our room had never been touched and was still out of any/all paper products. We had to walk all the way across the hotel grounds to the front desk, to ask for fresh towels, toilet paper, and tissues. We tried calling, but no one was at the desk to answer, since they were all breaking up the fight. Every day of our stay the 'Hot Breakfast' area was missing food. It was suposed to be open from 6:30AM to 10AM, so we tried varying our arrival time anywhere from 7AM to 9AM, but no matter when we arrived, something was missing, every day. The first day, there were no potatos. The next day, there was no meat (sausage links). The lady said that they were working on the meat, but it never arrived during our breakfast. The next day, there were no eggs, meat, or potatos. I waited for over 20 min and the young girls eventually brought out eggs and potatos. They said that the Canadian bacon (little ham circles) would be a while, but it never arrived during our extended breakfast. The final day was a repeat of before. Also, the waffle batter was regularly running out and having to be re-made (meaning only breakfast cereal was available). Fruit was regularly missing near the yogurts. The only BREWED coffee in the hotel, in the reception area, was always out and the lady at the desk said that she couldn't re-brew it since she didn't have any help and had to man the front desk. This was one of the worst hotel stays of my life, and I've traveled,...
Read moreHad to stay for two months when waiting for the closing on our new home. Had to hound management regularly during our stay, regarding people smoking outside our ground floor window. It took them weeks to actually address the problem! Having an allergy to cigarette smoke, because it causes severe asthma attacks, this was an issue. Management stated there is a "no smoking anywhere" policy there. However, he refused to put up signs because "that has to come from Corporate." Also, there was the issue of certain front desk/customer service people there being unfriendly/unwelcoming. Particularly a young woman, named KENDRA. Our best friend was so staying at the hotel during the same time period. Kendra is, apparently, picky about who she displays any manners towards. She treated our best friend as though he were not even worth of a greeting, a smile, a thank you, you're welcome, or anything but a lecture not to put his room key next to his credit cards. My friend became upset after each time he had to interact with her. Nobody should be left wondering if she was rude and unfriendly to him because of his looks! Nobody needs to be put in a position that that thought could even enter their mind! And, we paid many thousands of dollars to stay/live there for approximately 9 weeks, due to our slow home buying process. KENDRA, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, GO FIND WORK ELSEWHERE! You do not know the first thing about CUSTOMER SERVICE! Go work on a fishing boat or something where kindness and a smile are not a necessary part of your job. **Management should take note that the receptionist/front desk clerk are a clear and impactful reflection of how good your business is.
The layout of the hotel is very poor. The room we had (157) was extremely far from the exit to the pool area and twice as far to the lobby, and breakfast area. I have difficulty walking and the distance was ridiculously far even for an able bodied person.
Once outside, there were no comfortable chairs available outside of the pool area to sit on to read, relax, etc. Although there is a lovely large open area there is no way to use it for passive recreation other than moving chairs or lounges out of the pool area yourself, and that is impossible in the mornings when the pool is all locked. Is there a theft problem up there?
Sacrificing one of the inner rooms to make an additional entrance to the pool area should be considered , as well as a reconfiguring of the dining area - perhaps to one of the conference rooms would serve guests better.
The "living room chairs" used in the breakfast area were not a comfortable way to dine. there should be normal dining chairs instead.
The hot food served was awful. Greasy and overdone/burnt eggs each day. The coffe and juice cups are an embarrassment- they are so small. There was only 1 waffle maker for the hundreds of kids who look forward to making there own breakfast . There should be 3 or 4 at least to match the demand from all the families of baseball kids staying at the hotel.
Overall the Inn give the deserved impression that it is a very low budget operation, certainly not wort the $285 dollars a night you had the nerve to charge -- its clear that you take advantage of the large number of families who travel to Cooperstown in the summer, to cover your costs for the whole year. You have a captive clientele I am sure, but I'm also sure that you do not get many...
